“A young driver”

obviously ageist

Would do it but i"m old and an extractor fan. :stuck_out_tongue:

These days that’s anyone under 57

I saw young driver, clicked the thread then remembered my age, didn’t even occur to me I can’t drive the machinery mentioned

Driving a harvester and forwarder, obviously for the round timber work. Never knew there were many forests in Glasgow but I could be wrong, they’re great fun though going up a 35 degree mountain and the coming down …

male or female? surely a sexist advert…the ‘trans-gender community’ will be up in arms!

Looks like someone is looking for an " operator " as I don’t know many forwarder/ harvester operators that would even refer to themselves as " drivers ".

With the present state of the round wood industry in the west of Scotland , I would have thought they would have just gone to one of the main harvesting firms and asked them to supply a " young " operator.

There are plenty of machines parked up and operators either on short time or doing nothing at all !.

Mechatron:
We

Who the zb is ‘we’…■■?

I went with the forwarder at one of our sites at the top end of Loch Striven, NEVER AGAIN !! bloody terrifying

I wonder if the young drivers will need to have good 0 level and A levels to be considered for the position… :open_mouth:

Mechatron, why do you ask for a young person, surely an older person with vastly more experience can do it

I would guess its because the demo is at a uni and they don’t want an old mature student on the machines :sunglasses:

Demo at a major university ■■?

I know those machines can be a bit complicated to start with but do you now need a degree to handle one ?

double post !! ■■■■ electronics in this house is going haywire today, pc and Smart TV playing up :unamused:

phone the Forrestry Commission in Edinburgh or Aberfoyle.

I am trialling simulators with the university to see how long it takes to get from a novice to the real machine, I need to run data programs with an operator.
