Can anybody confirm if i would need to apply for a special permit to drive a vehicle of 4.4 meters in height in Holland, Belgium and Germany? Its a bus, and i know this is a trucking forum but you guys/gals know a hell of a lot more about this. Could i just chance it? Are Motorway gantries not quite high?
Have you tried the address i put in your other post, they will have information about this for Germany,Also you will need to check the route why because just on the strecht of the A4 between Aachen–KÖLN are low bridges which will give you problems, normaly all bridges in Germany that are marked 4.00m have a 0.20cm safety limit but this can not be all ways guaranteed,
I know that Holland banned UK double deckers years ago because they set off the alarms in the tunnels…If you find a diversion around every 4m limit then you will be OK. But you may find that you are making diversions around the diversions as the crow flies…( with a broken wing )
TRY here for Holland– http://www.verkeerenwaterstaat.nl
as regards permits and about the height of the bridges, again they will understand englishso you do not have to translate it into Dutch,
