Spanish Drivers do not load or unload under new agreement

I’ve been on Containers in the UK for last 12 years and never had to load or unload anything. If they haven’t got staff to load/unload I’m taking it back, end of…!

Dodgy Permit:
Well done the Spanish drivers & their association, now I wonder if the T.G.W.U will push for this in the UK ?
Yes I know about the rocking horse ■■■.

Did someone mention TGWU.The ‘grievance’ in question would have had more chance of success if the Union hadn’t actually agreed with the firm regarding what we were aggrieved about.

TGWU’s message of support of the Spanish drivers.

Waiting times at RDCs to be legally limited to just 1 hour
The maximum waiting time for trucks at RDCs is to be reduced by law to just 1 hour, after which the carrier will have the right to demand compensation.

Spain obviously wants trucks and drivers out on the road where they belong and a road transport industry that actually works.Unlike ours.

Defo agree with waiting times being addressed. Obviously it’s not an issue for me now moving own stuff from site to site I’m able to just gracefully dwan past everything, swap a trailer and go again. No checking, no waiting for bays.

But on general it used to bug me. I had a pretty decent hit rate of getting into places early so that softened the blow a lot of the time - I was still waiting the same amount of time but wasn’t as “late” leaving - but its just a wasted day. I always used to think that we all jump hoops to arrive on time to allow the receiving company to plan only to be left high and dry by their inefficiency.

As for self tip, never minded aldi as never had too many issues, but lidl I used to despise. Waiting so long for paperwork. And I don’t care that you’re x amount if boxes shirt of whatever, I can’t magic them out of thin air.

Suggest you direct your moan to the Spanish who obviously aren’t lumbered with low IQ Brit transport unions. The type of unions who’s out of touch stupid leadership is busy agreeing behind closed doors to what the Shop Floor is already in grievance dispute over. All to keep the train driver elite at ASLEF and RMT happy.

In Spain strong Union??There most drivers paid per kilometrs. And not one Union help.

I think that if employers wanted drivers to load/unload, they would address their adverts to show it…then see the job applications fall to zero. Whereas most of them advertise Driver wanted.or Class 1 driver wanted
Or C+E driver wanted ( or whatever theyre called nowadays )…So i class myself as a driver…and not a driver loader/unloader…of course there are drivers who would do it…i for one didnt…unless the renumeration was offered…only happened once ( at Lidl ) didnt pay me…so jacked in there and then…even after his son offered from his own pocket…but i declined as i am a person of principle.

I’d sooner unload then not unload.
Spend enough time in the cab as it is. Also if I leave it to the warehouse to unload a 20 minute tip can turn into a 2 hour tip.
Then again I am not allergic to exercise.
