Spanish citrus season

Anyone know If many brits still do citrus from the Valencia region back to the uk ?. It use to be big money at this time of the year but i presume it’s now done by eastern europeans is it ?. Anyone know what the going rate is these days from Valencia to say Spalding ?. Would of thought it might be viable again these days with the pound being so weak against the euro.

try pm’ing klunk he is doing fruit back from spain this week.

From my limited experience - I was running fridges to Spain until last year - getting decent loads back was never a problem, however getting a decent paying load down there was always a problem.

We used to bring oranges and tangerines back from Valencia/Murcia to Spalding and Peterborough for around £2k. I hope this helps.

2 weeks ago I loaded Valencia oranges from Sheerness Fruit Terminal and took them to the Paris Fruit Market in Rungis :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes done that myself, straight past Rungis on the way up from Spain and a week later from Sheerness to Paris - probably the same bloody oranges!

Two or three years ago, I did a diary on here where I loaded toms that had come into Southampton from the Canaries and took them all the way back down to Perpignan!!!
We are taking toms from Southampton to Rotterdam at the moment. Why? Because it is cheaper to dock the boat at Southampton and run 500 pallets to Rotterdam by road then pay the port fees for two ports ie Southampton and Rotterdam

Sorry, I call him Austin as it makes me smile. If you meet him he doesn’t look like an Austin - he doesn’t wear a cravat, not outside the cab anyway - he does however look like a bear!

Anyway Austin, what’s your real name - tristan, st john, rupert??

we have been doing ships stores down to barcelona and a few loads of fruit from valencia but mainly getting something into the south of france and then apples from montpelier
