Spain

I’m running down to Spain next trip.
Haven’t been for a few years. I am going to go Rouen - Chartres - Claremont - Millau bridge. Does anyone travel that route regularly, if so are there any new transit or ADR restrictions?

I use that route frequently and have never had any problems, no restrictions that I can think of although dounes/customs like to sit near the Millau airport and pull you after you have crossed the bridge. :unamused: :unamused:

Thanks for that Steve

I never miss the chance to plug my Millau Viaduct video

Excellent.
I have not been over it yet. Have some vid’ of the valley before it was there. I’ll try and dig it out.

Went that way last week. Enjoy yourself. The bridge is awesome.

I only went to Spain via Millau once, several years before the viaduct was open.

It was a pretty awesome route without that bridge.

It was an awesome route, but it did take a while if you hit it at the wrong time, nice bridge no question, but all this progress has taken the fun out of the job, now it’s all motorway & one country looks just like any other, it was much better when we used to run the old roads, you used to see a bit of the country & find out a bit about the culture, nowadays it’s all motorways & industrial areas, BORING

I’ve got to agree with you there, one motorway looks much the same as any other once you get used to driving on the ‘wrong’ side of the road.
Every country has its driving culture differences though, which keeps you on your toes.
Fast transit times are what the industries want, but it makes the job much more boring for us.

A good video mate. I like your choice of music too. Class.
You might have put the rest of the bridge crossing on. Maybe turn the camera to look more sideways ?
I don’t know if that would be any good mind, but I wanted to hear the next few minutes of that track  :unamused:

I think I showed remarkable restraint really, it really ■■■■■■ me off sometimes how the job has gone :frowning: Going abroad used to be an adventure, customs finishing started the rot (in my era anyway) then the mobile phone, then the sattelite & the rate cutting Eastern Europeans have done the rest :unamused:

I used to do Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Denmark etc in a week (not at the same time, of course) with hardly any motorways, every night I’d be in a resturaunt, having a good meal, a few beers & socialising with my fellow drivers, wherever they came from.

Nowadays, it’s all go go go, you end up eating in the cab more often than not & by thursday you end up working nights, progress, my arse :unamused: still takes a week to do the job :exclamation:

Well if you can do it I can plug my video with the Millau in it as well. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Running down the mountain side into Millau was always interesting, especially with a bit of weight on the back :exclamation:

I was heading south, on a Saturday evening, climbing out of Millau.
The cliffs were flood-lit and I was so busy gawping at the sights I almost ran out of road on one of those hair-pins :open_mouth: :unamused:   .

That’s one trip I’ll never forget, for all the right reasons.

Absolutely awesome.
