Ive just come back from Spain and I was amazed at the amount of trucks and trailers that were still sat in yards during the week. We have a place which is not far from Huercal Overa and here is a pic of one haulage companies’ yard on a monday morning:
I couldnt get anymore because i was confronted by ,I assume, the owner asking me what I was doing!!!
In my best spanish I told him that I was taking some pics to put on this site and that he should very kindly pay me some money for advertising his company. He wasnt very happy!!!
so how many yards in the UK are this full on a Monday Morning ? I was baffled by the amount of trucks and fridges just parked up, they are either doing something the UK isnt or they simply have no work!
What also intrigued me was that this company had at least 10 brand new Scanias at Scanias depot by Murcia so gthey are obviously doing OK which rules out the lackof work bit. Another one was this company, had dozens of trucks and trailers just lying about

Oh does anyone know what the man means on the back of the trailer?
Ive pointed to it, it was on a lot of trailers, is it an andalucian thing ?
What you dont realise is that they all returned in the early hours of Monday morning after leaving the day before coming to the U.K. doing 30 drops at markets reloading then back again.
Is this why the yard is so full or do I need to have a rethink on the answer??
another reason i can think of is that seeing as they are all fridges and are located in the murcia region the spanish don’t like loading fruit during the morning very much, in my experience every time i have loaded in the murcia region i have been told to go away and come back at about 7pm, this could be another reason but i wouldnt have thought this would account for all the trucks in the yard…
there obviously feeling the pinch from our east european friends as well! I used to see no end of spanish trucks near where i live delivering to fruit and veg packing plants but its all mostly polish, hungarian and czech now.
if thats the case you really wouldnt go an buy brand new wagons from scania then, there was quite a few lined up in their colours as i passed the scania dealership in murcia.
Normally fruit and veg are not picked at weekend so nothing to load until late on monday and that is depending on the weather…and without the truck/trailer nothing could move. One spannish firm I worked for rubbed their hands when they thought they had a frigde load as they could change a fortune.
you see it off the main route A7 , their yard was half full or half empty which ever way you see it, next time am over there, i will get pics of more companies
The way I see it is:
They are either making a fortune and no need to run every day
They cant get drivers cos they are crap to work for
Full of Bulgarian drivers (double manning). Was used to seen them in Heston MSA every- weekend but about few months agos they were stop visit to Heston MSA ? maybe they had own reasons - cant afford the parking fee but have not seen them in here much lately ?
Do you have photos of Cerezuela trucks or depot ? thanks
Argos - huge company in spain - they driving to Germany a lots!
will get some of all the depots including Cerezuelas when I go over next, Im there over the New Year, I did notice that Cerezuela had fridges everywhere on the Industrial estate of Huercal Overa but couldnt actually see their yard for some reason!!!
One thing for certain is that around that area, every haulier is running fridges, small and big, lots of lemon/orange/olive groves around there so big demand.

wouldnt mind getting into it myself!!!..
What is the season and how long for lemom and oranges,as for olives most of the olive crop stay within Spain and the olives do not need a frigde for transport… dream on but save your money.
The firm shown in pics usualy run to scandinvia so there might be a bank hols there.the symbol shown on the back means it comes from the murcie region it called the murcia man if you saw the company from the autoroute just before you get to it there is a yard full of clay pipe with the fence is made of them.

Routier, one of the most popular logos in Spain was created by an anonymous designer some 5,000 years ago.
It represents a man with outstretched arms holding aloft an arch.
The symbol, which appears in Neolithic sites of eastern Andalusia, has been adopted as symbol of Almeria.
And the others have a picture of some bloke from the middle east who was nailed to a piece of wood and hung out to dry.
A lot of transport companies in France and Spain seem to have more trucks than drivers. probably to do with lower standing costs and waiting for the right job rather than just been very busy and making nowt
I couldnt say exactly what my bosses overheads are for 30 odd trucks - but he certainly doesnt have to pay for an “operating centre” plus its associated rates, etc… in which to park his vehicles as they all go home with the drivers. I park mine in a very nice residential area in the community parking and its just accepted - no complaints from anyone including the Police, council and residents.
