ec14:
one man can operate most of these crushers, its all hydraulic drive from a donkey engine.
Thanks for that EC14.
PS how much stone tonnagewise can it crush an hour?
ec14 beat me to it Dennis.I just phoned my next door neighbour who works in the quarry,he said the same as ec14,it’s fed by a 360% tracked machine and the crushed stone shifted by a loading shovel.
Cheers Dave.
hello dennis.
ec14 is quite correct on the operation of the crusher, there are different types of set up ie jaw operation /cone operation/and rotating hammer operation.mostly they are operated by one man and that man is the excavator driver that feeds the hopper,he has a simple infra red remote control in the excavator,i believe that recent health and safety regulations have prohibited personell from standing on or near the crushers whilst they are operational.that particular crusher looks a beast but it is not a mega high output machine it weighs around fifty odd ton and i open to correction when i say the output would be around 200 tons per hour, tarmac run some really big crushers like the Gippo Combi which weigh in excess of 130/140 tons which have really high outputs but then they are not easy and quick to move from AtoB due to the need of a partial stripdown, hope this has shed a little light on the subject for you.
kindest regards graham.

Hi all, Andrew what would this FH sell for? It looks as if it would not take to much to restore it, or even put it under cover for 10 yrs. If you think about all them F88s that could of been saved from the torch, would this be a worth while project for someone?.

hi paul,
i thought that whilst wading through the swamp like mud yesterday afternoon.the only thing you must remember is,that in europe at least, the scrap price is very high at the moment, guys who have kept old lorries that they said they would never sell, are selling them.the foreign, mainly african and carribean buyers are snapping up everything they can,for some pretty high cash prices .any, hub reduction axles and double drive bogie’s are like gold dust to these buyers.

I worked for Shaun for 4 years or so, left 5 years ago. He’s got a fair size fleet, about 50 or so now. He has gone back to Mercs again, not got many Volvo’s left. Shaun has had some bad luck lately, He’s had 3 tipped over since Christmas.(1 of them in the yard!)
