hi pete,Addrian Jenkins here mate.i worked for joint quite a few years and B804 was my unit new.as you say it was gutless but i loved it as it had a bed in it.i used to stay out in her regularly,no night heater in them days but to have a bunk was luxory.i had that marathon too you didnt know the driver of,VEP 379T i believe it was.alan jones bought 3 of them X british telecom i think.250 ■■■■■■■■ the cap had a new one TWN something S reg.then he had the first 290 turbo which i had after him.wow! a 290.she would go well.she did half a million miles before she needed an engine rebuild.she,d not long been all done up at poachers resprayed etc.alan said at the time if he,d known the engine was going to go he wouldnt have had it done up.i had may a happy year at joint.i knew alan, calyton, bobby etc as my old man Marlais Jenkins {long deceased now]worked for joeses when Eddie was still alive and Dill ,Deryl,Arthur were young.i used to go every where with him,on sat mornings i,d go up the garage in kenfig hill and alan and me would play in the wagons.ive only just found this sit after talking to one of the BOC boys.its excellent.ive got some old photos here somewhere of when i was with joint, and blue line.i ased to be known as scribbler on the cb as i wrote a lot of poems for the convoy{iron ore not coal]me and peter lewis refused to carry coke one day when dai meeks wanted us to do trethomas coking works.good old days.im down corus now on site driving for future tankers.back and fro no5 blast.dead easy.i reckon ive been there, got the t.shirt so i just want to take it easy untill 2013 when i can retire, tho i,d still like to do the odd day.i also had that volvo before pal barrow was with keedwell.i could tell you a few tales of when i worked for graham too but i,d be here all night.i,d love to put some of my old photos on here but how do you do it?regards to all my old mates who i havent seen for years.dai edwards i see now and then[better known as dai the gob] cheers, adrian.
hi adrian
when i first started with joints i think i was given an old marathon and im sure it was vep remember first day on job took wrong trailer to pontadulais luckily enough my 2 nd load was to pontardulais so just had to sought paper work . used to bloody freeze in those marathons heater only worked up to windscreen nothing for the feet used to get cold pulling up to tafanafach.regards martyn handley.
hello adrian,
i can remember you, wasn’t it you that used to do karate?or am i mixing you up with someone else?.it’s good to hear from you and i enjoyed reading you’r post.i’d love to see you’r photos,as i am sure plenty of others would also.if you look at the top of the page you will find instructions,it’s very easy,it must be as i can do it.peter lewis calls in to see me fairly regularly,he drives for n.r. evans these days.it’s amazing the sheer number of people who go on trucknet.there are dozens logged on every night who are guests .welcome to our thread and please get some pictures on.
regards andrew

hi mart,
yes you had that one and steve bungay had ath 661v.both those marathons had been to the moon and back by the time you boys had them .the best motor for running ebbw vale was g800,she loved those banks on the 465
.
regards andrew
yes mate it was me who did karate.tell peter lewis i,m asking about him next time you see him.ive just been looking through the old photos and only now i know the cap has died.i see him and dai francis by billies new marathon.dai edwards i see down the abbey now and then.he was known as dai the gob do you remember him.i dont know how i havent found this site before but only sat i was talking to em with BOC and he said to look at it.what a great site.i,d love to put some of my photos on here ive got some of me with keedwell on the F12 with Ridian Evans as my mate.we had some good times me and rid,he,s a good lad.with mc,arthy now.nice to see sid evans photos too.i think sid was great.we did a mini cruise years ago, went up to felixtowe in a mini bus,len tyler as well.i got phote of us on a bench at dock.poor old sid i miss him.i used to be scribbler on the cb.as i wrotesome poems for the iron ore convoy.ah all those old memories arflooding back.i see that A reg renault on here of joints.it was my turn to have the nrxt new truck but alan was given that renault for six months free by renaults as they couldnt get him to buy one.they wanted joint to paint it up so they could say we had bought one.then they offered it at such a low price he bough it.i had to wait for the next truck which was B804 the six wheeler 2025 merc.no guts but warm and comfortable and it had a bunk.pete lewis had the next one the same as mine.i see bernard cody and hubert and read dennis greens name on here.i,m just so glad ive found the site.i,ll dig my photos out.ade.[jinks]
hya martin, how are you mate.aye i done a few miles in 661V.billy had her new though.i allways hoped id have one of the 1633 mercs but never did.boy they were the tool in them days.im a bit long in the tooth now at nearly 63 but im still going.i,m driving a tanker down the abbey taking oil to no5 blast.its the easiest job ive ever had.7.30_4.30 and as long as their using oil sat or sun whichever i fancy.its a piece of p—.if you see a blue erf tanker with future on it thats me.less than 2 and a half years and i can retire.ive had two heart attacks and now ive got diabetes type 2.so i reckon ive done my fair share.i,ll take the money and run.ive been punchin motors around the country since i was 21 and done most things so i just want an easy life now.we used to have to find our own loads back, rope and sheet out in all weather,no tilts then or easysheet,no sleeper cabs.good old days but i wouldnt want go back.we had comeradery them days.if you had a puncture the boys would pull in and help you.all the southwales boys on the midlands intensive would meet in strensham up and back.alan evans will remember we used to call him mr steel.argosy, vale transport who i was with 5years,holloway bros.john raymond, blue line and the boys from swansea too.any one remember tiny with vale.he was a big bloke but an old lag to us youngsers then.my first job on heavy stuff was with ians dad arthur underhill shunting.i,d load down the abbey and baglan bay.no heavy goods licence in them days.i,d better go or i,ll go on forever once i start.you,ll be bored stiff and ive only just joined.cheers ade.
