I think John Evans is mentioned on this thread,he used to have several lorries based in the Hay on Wye area, most were on changeover. Don’t know much about D Morgan.I live in Mid Wales and just remember the different South Wales hauliers that used to pass through on the Brecon to Leominster road, and also the different firms I saw on the road as a driver.
Cheers Dave.

hi all,
had a great time today with some good mates at this years swansea “cancer research” transport festival  .sadly that’s the final show this season,my next outing will be on new years day :frowning: .i know many members like to see photos from the shows,so here we go.starting with my good mate danny thomas’ iveco, mine and pERFection 14’s erf 80 tonner and mechanic 77’s mighty sweet sounding scania 142.

g.e. keedwell and son aaron came along to the show with their well known 1988 scania 142 and also their new heavy haulage beast.an outstanding 4 series scania with, as my mate steelboyf10 would say “a proper job” faymonville trailer,an awesome machine  .

hello pete.
you have to give graham full marks on the latest addition to his fleet ,i have heard about the new faymonville trailer as i was speaking to rhydian in finnings last week.it always surprises me with the fays that they run on an eight spigot wheel instead of the normal ten but still attain 16.5 tons per axle, cracking bit of kit all the same.
regards graham.

hi graham,
yes,i totally agree,an impressive piece of engineering.when i looked at that trailer today i was very impressed, the technology in all these latest generation low loaders amazes me.it makes the 1970’s taskers, kings and others that my father used to paint for tony morgan etc seem a world away.
regards andrew

what was d. morgan’s livery ? i had a 6x4 foden unit in 1985 that was piped for a walking floor trailer , b247ath which i believe is a s.wales reg . the driver must have been a big lad as the driving seat was knackered . it was grey with an air kit on the roof , cheers rigsby

to rigsby.
if you are refering to ivor d morgan of ely bridge cardiff the livery was as far as i can remember was dark grey with i think gold coloured signwriting i personally cant remember a foden in the fleet but it may have been possible, most i think were leylands or aec ergos.you are correct in your assumptions on the reg TH this was a west wales suffix.
regards graham.

An excellent day, all credit to Ashley Lovering for putting it together. Lots of great Commercials on show! There was something for everyone. Full marks to the bus boys for ferrying the people about. I have to say, I fell in love with the Bedford CA ‘Mister Softee’ Ice cream van. The restoration job on that was superb. Well done to all who supported the show, all for a good cause.

hi malcolm,
well said, the macmillan foundation is a very worthy cause.i was impressed with the attendance, given the weather.
