Hello
Do you know where this and the next pic down were taken, I have loaded out of there years ago but can’t remember the name of the place. In the back of my head I seem to think it was off of the A470, maybe wrong.

cheers

John.

hello altitude. the photo you refer to is in craig yr hesg quarry in pontypridd you had probably discharged a load of aberthaw cement at the batching plant, it has had various owners over the years, when i started there in 1965 it was owned by st ives sand & gravel, then in the early seventies it was run by amalgamated road stone corporation , now it is run by hanson. hope this have jogged your memory.

Hi Graham
Yeah that’s it, we use to load stone or it may have been stone dust on bulkers then, I’m going back a few years and I think it was owned by ARC then. Is the quarry still open?

cheers

John.

hello john.
yes the quarry is still open and run by hansons, the quality of the stone there is very high as it is used mostly on trunk roads and motorways as an anti skid surface, when i worked there aberthaw cement had their own fleet of tankers, you must have known harry gardner when you worked for billy.
regards graham.
