South Wales Hauliers sixties and seventies onwards (Part 1)

interesting regarding the council gritters and ploughs last winter as we all know was very bad and where I live near romford the council lorries were out which does not happen very often and I noticed they were all pretty new and all those I saw on the news were pretty new so it would seem that councils had a big spend up in the last few years renewing there fleets as here in havering they had some old bedford tks and kms maybe new regs made them buy new stuff? I wonder what happened to all the old stuff scrap or export, I have to agree with “richgrif” they should buy demountable machines and use our rate money more wisely, cheers fred

Here in Powys Mid Wales where I live, they have got quite a few Mercedes tippers with demountable bodies which they put gritter bodies on in the winter, only trouble is they made a lot of the blokes redundant a few years ago,and have trouble getting blokes with a LGV license to work for them,as most of the year, there’s very little overtime.
Cheers Dave.

this bedford tm was used in bedford’s magazine adverts.
