South Wales Hauliers sixties and seventies onwards (Part 1)

hi all,
just returned from ashley lovering’s swansea festival of transport.took plenty of photos, chose some that we have not seen on this thread before.starting with swansea based ken williams recovery.this scania has recently been aquired and has not been painted in the familiar two tone green yet.

early model fh from lampeter eggs.

this foden alpha is now owned by a firm from west wales.

e.p.s. from swansea.

down from ludlow were a couple of tony lloyds aec’s.

old bedford, she bucked a bit on the old a48 with that machine on

it may well say scarborough on the door, but this aec merryweather appliance now lives in the landore (swansea) museum.

my good mate, daibootsy and his ex harold read erf.

Hi Andrew,
Thats a Hereford reg Bedford, wonder where it originated from.
Cheers Dave.

my good mate mechanic77,supplied these two classic cardiff international shots, first a scania caught outside their yard in caerphilly.

this cardiff international iveco turbostar was pictured in zeebrugge.

komatsu 450:

THIS SCANIA IS A SHUNTER IN DOLCAST AT PYLE

Is it still there? I will add it to the Caitlin House Register.

another from gaydon,a very old erf from s. jones bethania.

pete 359:
here’s one from gaydon that has a welsh connection.yax 521,i think she was owned from new by girling brakes, later being restored.

Spot-on, she is ex Girling of Cwmbran. I believe she trialled a special rubber suspension system when new. Rallyed for many years in two tone blue, now showing a new livery in green, luvvly jubbly :sunglasses:

And with disc brakes too, IIRC?

a former cardiff international f89.

sorry not to have posted much lately,we have been very busy in work doing amongst other things getting a topline scania ready for a show in belgium.(all will be revealed soon).today a former cardiff transport driver (john dunly) whom i used to work with called in and gave me a disc with these images.

john raymond has quite a few of these iveco stranded’s now, they must be cheap, cause in my opinion they are a pile of crap.

john drives for clarkes transport in kenfig industrial estate.here’s a palletline actros.
