porthcawl based s. protheroe and son leyland tipper.
protheroeās later moved to port talbot and ran a litchfield changeover with sandersonās of great broughton for many years.
i think they only had two of these f86ās.the mainstay of the fleet were atkiās,later 400ās and one 401,until they finished around 1984.
i scrounged the protheroe photoās from a family friend and retired driver, graham ricard.after leaving protheroeās, graham drove for south cornelly based davies bros.seen here in summer 1980,grahamās scammell routeman and davies bros doorless workshop.
graham graduated to several manās with davies bros.this one here (c149 gcy) was probably the last one he had?

Well boys it looks as if you are getting ready for a good time, this weekend. That was pretty neat for Dave to meet Graham and get the photos.
If I win the Florida lottery tonight, Iāll be on the plane Friday afternoon. If not I will wait to see all your photos, and perhaps read a tale or two as well.
Regards Paul.

a seddon from r. nessbert of cardiff, fully freighted with timber.
Good to see āSixties & Seventiesā stuff again. My friend drove for Nesbertās. One day him and his mate were bringing paper and print down to the mint. One carried the paper, and one the print. My mate stopped off at his house for a cuppa and there was a major police alert as they had not both arrived. My mate rolled up about an hour later as calm as you like, wondering what all the police were having such a panic about!!!
