Who does your signwriting/lettering and graphics for you Andrew? Dennis.

Hi Andrew, she still looks a most imposing truck!, and as good as I remember, Philip had taken the truck to a couple of shows local to home, I did invite him on the Steelboys run, if only to get it parked next to PP, we could have all 3 “coops” motors at Gaydon, just need the ERF,…I see you have had a relapse…JJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJJonts…LOL

Cheers M8 - SB F10

So far so good Andrew! I forgot to ask about the drive train Engine/gearbox/drive ? Surely you are are not hesitant about yoking it up to a fully freighted trailer? You sure would be a sight for sore eyes tramping up the M5 at Droitwhich with a 26 tonne coil on board!!!Dennis.

fully freighted with coil, now that would be sight to see!it has a 3406b cat.this was a new engine fitted in 2003,the truck is a 1983,and as the american vendor told me,“she’s only done 500,000 miles” since  .the gearbox is probably the biggest fuller i have ever painted.it’s a 15 speed underdrive, the splitter only works in low range.apparantley they are popular in the usa as they have some monsterous hills in north america and the trucks are nearly always in low range when they need to split gears.it’s an unusual pattern five, high range and another five.you can get some lightning fast clutchless shifts if you time it right.the diffs are eaton 3.55’s which is the highest gearing on any north american class8 tractor.she flew up black rock on the a465 earlier today.i can still hear the jake brake from the day before going down the same bank.

i kept an eye out for your truck this weekend, as i was down your neck of the woods, but ended upn at the pub lol, btw i saw nashers scania friday, first time since the new paint looks smart a real credit to your workman ship!!!

Makes sense that spec Andrew! you don’t need many gears at the top end when you are cruising in a straight line with little or no grades! I always maitained that the 5 speed Scany we had was the best motorway tractor and it wasn’t a minutes trouble all the time we ran it!Go on you coward get it yoked to a “coiler” and get Bob Tuck on board to record the event!! (you would only be road testing and not revenue earning!!!) Cheers Dennis.
