South Wales Hauliers sixties and seventies onwards (Part 1)

my good friend alun s. griffiths ran a smart mainly scania fleet for years.this 111 registered who 98v is pictured here when driven by another good mate kelvin powell.i bet asg wishes he still had “who” as these early lb scanias change hands for big money these days.

early/mid-80’s fleet line up.

i don’t think alun kept this erf long!

c870 fwo scania 112,bought new by alun in 1985.sold to sid evans in 1995.

T J REE MCG 963L 6X4 LWB FODEN and drawbar trailer at Rhoose mid 70s ?

That is one hell of a photo LYNXMAN I can remember that foden on the road and i’m sure went by the name of Cowbridge King, awesome site seeing that going down the road !! I was under the impression that they took horses abroad for meat, I met Dilwyn Ree back a good few years ago through my father and can remember the Foden and Atkinson 4 wheeler at their Llysworney farm, he had just fitted a perkins engine from a massey ferguson 65 tractor into his range rover and was thinking of restoreing the foden but as she had a steel cab it needed a lot of work but was also thinking of restoreing the atkinson, sadly passed away and was realy nice chap.

bridgend based d.w. jones or dai coity as he is known runs this smart 620 scania with a very powerful crane.it weighs 24 tonnes, just the solo unit.

ERF C40 8LXCT (300 bhp) 4x2 tractor unit. the only thing that was not working were the rear lights,
I purchased it to stop it going for scrap, because it was to tall for my sheds, and was starting to suffer
from outside storage, I reluctantly decided to sell her for preservation, on the assurance of the new owner
that it was to be restored, one month later it was advertised for sale at a lot more than i charged him for it.
I also sold him a gardner generator set (posted in this set of pictures) I wonder where that has gone
probably the third world. you live and learn

The 6lx set it gave 80kva and was as sweet as a nut, looks are not everything
