Hiya Andrew have you had a busy day? I’ve just remembered an incident that happened in 1974 and involved your favourite Atki ! It wasn’t funny at the time but it turned out ok in the end.We had started running a night trunk to Daventry and we employed a day man there to shunt into London and back.So this particular morning our driver Lloyd Jennings goes to his motor (480L) to run to London and the tractor is stood on bricks all 6 wheels gone ! thieving B******s ! Anyway we get 6 re-placements and that was that ! old bill was no help ! However a few weeks later we get a call to say the law had pulled a van in the Daventry area and it has 6 wheels in the back !could they be ours ? Our driver Lloyd I.D’ d them and we got them back!! So how was that for a bit of luck !Cheers Dennis.

Hi Andrew,
That Vulcan has an Hereford number, can you ask him if he bought it from Hereford or had it second hand from a firm from that way.
Cheers Dave.

Hiya pete359 cracking photo’s, I can remember T.J. REE & Son’s of Llysworney very well always loved their livery on their wagon’s, my father new the Ree family very well but drove for the enemy company at the time E.T. Adams & Son’s of Cowbridge, i’m not sure if John Ree is still operating a E.R.F artic from near Broughton and not to sure if he used to drive for Penllyne Haulage of Llandow

hello pete359.
just had a look at the latest additions and dave is quite correct about the hereford suffix, the truck was probably supplied by prails as they did supply a number of vulcans that were operated from brs dowlais depot.another make of truck that i believe prails used to supply was a truck called a proctor these of course would be back in the 1950s
regards graham.

HI daibootsy,
Dai Kinsey and me both lived a couple of doors apart as kids, were the same age, drove for the same firm at one time,I moved to another firm had an accident ended up exactly the same as he did. Dai’s was twenty years after it happened to me,strange as we both came from a tiny village. Went to his funeral at Swansea, hadn’t seen him for a few years, did go to see him at Rookwood Hospital several times after his accident as I had been through the same scenario, only in my case I was in Gobowen Hospital near Oswestry. Good laugh was Dai,could tell you a few tales about what we got up to as kids and teenagers, fetched him home ■■■■■■ as a rat sometimes,at least he enjoyed life,me and another mate very often have a chat about him and laugh at some of his antics.
Cheers Dave.
