hello andrew,
the last marathon possibly one of hills transport, they had a few i am sure, and the old kg reg,
graham.

Hi graham,
Correct sir, seems a sad waste of a classic motor to me.the marathon cabs were known for tin worm,as can be seen

You wouldn’t need a gas axe to cut that up, I think a good pressure washer would do it !

Hi trev,
A good gust of wind would do it

the last time i saw that silver marathon was when i had my a series erf and i parked next to it at pembrey truck racing around? 1997,ec14 was also there in this erf, which is still working and on ebay at the moment :sunglasses: .

hi ben,
i dare say you did see it.i saw it on the m25 just before xmas 2011,fully freighted in lane 2 going well loaded with heavy scrap.

graham, what weight is this d9? also what is the gross train weight please?

hello andrew,
surprisingly the D9T is not very heavy,it comes in around 48/50ton complete with blade and variable tine hook, gross weight i would guess as i took the inter -dolly out would be i the region of 90 ton, only half a load lol.
graham.

Hi graham,
Thanks for the reply.i thought that d9 was heavier than that, shows how little I know

I’ve borrowed this picture posted by ā€˜Fryske’ on the graveyard thread. The Atki belonged to Pontypool commercials, I remember seeing it parked up on an industrial site in New inn [all houses now] about 20 years ago, it was in a more complete state then and I recall a Scammell Explorer in same colours parked with it. Anyone else remember it?
Neil.

The place in New inn were I saw it used to be Walker steels if that rings any bells. As I said its been a housing estate for a long time now.
Neil.

hi all,
here’s a couple from daibootsy.

Here’s a few sent to me by another mate,Danny Thomas, who’s father had hired graham keedwell to collect this scrap handler from Barry dock last friday and deliver it to their recycling facility at fforestfach.
Regards Andrew.

Waiting to recycled @ fforestfach :sunglasses: .

Couldn’t you have saved that one Andrew? Would have made a nice little shunter for you, [I suspect you’ve saved a part off it]
Neil.

Hi all
These mercs were once a very familiar sight 24/7 on the m4.
