I read a fictional book about a lorry driver and his trailer boy can’t remember the
title off-hand but the author was called Laurie Driver no doubt a fictional name
would this have been Noel by any chance, i did enjoy the book mate so if you was
the writer thank you and RIP.

do you remember the day chris morgan gave you a big one routed to the west country m50/m5 to avoid the 32 ton old bridge and you took a short cut and were back at 10am poor old chris had a mental breakdown, but later that day he said god that job paid well

Great shot there Andrew of a great long gone firm, I don’t think they were running any of those Fodens by the time I was visiting S.Wales in the mid late 60’s they look like they were all shod on 40x8 tyres so they would be circa 50’s/early 60’s Mate, but the loads were still the same when we were in and out of their yard ! Cheers Dennis.

Gwynne Bowen’s yard is still there in gorseinon.i went around recently.lots of smaller companies trading from there now.i hear 40x8’s meant another 6mph,a big help in those days.he bought a lot of foden and erf’s over the years.a much missed fleet.proper firm,we used to have lots like that….
