You know me m8, so have you still got the one off GFC or do you now need another one, as the Dutch always have a pair

Hiya,
Thanks Andrew, I drove the Leyland equivalent during this era these Albions always
seemed to get past me, although was pulling a trailer and they was solo I’m talking
level going on dual carriageways where I could get max speed they always seemed
to be able to creep past me it took them a while but get by me they did, I never
did get chance to read the spec sheets of the two models but there was definitely
a difference at some point of the construction maybe the drive or the gearbox or
even the engine was tweaked a bit, even when I ran solo they always got past.
thanks harry, long retired.

Harry, The Caledonians had Albion’s own back axles and diffs built in as opposed to Leyland’s in the Octopus, perhaps there was a slight difference in the ratios… ?
Cheers Leyland 600.

Hiya,
Thanks “Leyland 600” for the info there wasn’t much between them, just enough
for the Caledonian driver to offer me the box of matches when we were cab to
cab for a moment as he was “blowing me off”.

Harry Gill…when I was driving for the orb (old steel company of Wales) In the early 70s we were always fiddling around with the pumps on Atkis they were never sealed …and there was nothing that would pass us then …"

Hiya,
Hello “Cliffstephens” was never lucky enough to drive anything unsealed but
had I done, I did have the knowledge to “tune/tweak” the pump, I did know
how to make Gardner engines go a bit better without interfering with seals
but it made the accelerator very heavy and it gave you a sore right leg.

Harry …these were all rollers …think the fitting was a bit lax a daisy I had a crusader after 2year old went in workshop with oil in water liners porous ."never came back out was cannibalised for parts now I never understood that but was owned by British steel at the time … (Money no object)…

Was this the one which ended its days as a diesel tank stillage at East Cefn Coed? Either this one or FUJ927 I reckon. I remember seeing an old Atki 8 wheel flat there with storage tanks on the flatbed some time around 1971, but never made a note of which one it was.
