Hi Lance, seeing those damaged coils reminded me of an incident in the summer of 1983. Early one morning I had loaded from Alcan at Rogerstone for delivery to Seacroft, Leeds.I came through the tunnel at Monmouth, had to stop at the lights then on to the roundabout at the foot of the “Leys Bends”.To my surprise on the exit on the A449 was a large steel coil probably about 12 tons in the road and it had done the “Telescope job”.I manoeuvred around it and proceeded up towards Pencraig thinking where the hell that coil had come from? Just then I became aware of a very bemused driver on the layby outside the shop looking at the lone front coil on the front of the trailer and wondering where is the other one? It was a J&M Ford Transcon bet he thought she was pulling up to Pencraig!!!
