Great shot Dai Bach,I wonder which engine the Atky had in,Gardner or more likely â â â â â â â 180? I allways thought that BSC were penny pinching buggers using stencilled number plates and that rear mudguard is a work of art surely
Cheers Dennis.
New to C W Griffiths.
Bought by Derek Layton. Shaunâs Dad. Later run by Bob Taylor from Kington.
Thought I knew the lorry.

The body on that 8 legger is a K&J Withey of hengoed, I donât know if they are still trading.K&J Withey were minutes from where I grew up. The rear light bar on the 142 was made up there Graham. Sadly they finished quite a while ago. The site is just rough ground now.
Neil.Hi all, Graham is right that is a K&J Withey body. That Scammel looks as if its an ex Williams Brothers Cross Hands motor. That cross member at the front may of been their choice, I cant remember seeing it on other bodies.
My opinion only, but in the 80s Wilcox was the superior product, K&J Withey were not to far behind and Rothdean gave Crane Freuhaf a run for their money on a trailer tipper chassis.Regards Paul.
that cross member is the support for tipper brackets where the ram is fitted .we had 5 of those U shape bodies on our Scammells. all from Withey. Dai Cap
Hi Dai Cap, thanks for the reply. The bodies we had were not as tall as the one shown and was flat not U shaped so the front end Edbro tipping gear may well of been mounted differently.
regards Paul.
