I took these yesterday at Abergavenny steam fair.first is Jason allen’s kenworth,then an unrestored welsh registered Albion rigid.

hi, 2 drivers from Swansea I know drove for Monarch Transport, curly from geo beer, and Ronnie Box, Ronnie drove an atky first then a foden S80. Monarch transport later took over Rewbridge transport. Ronnie now lives in Perth Australia.

Aye Monarch Transport that’s a blast from the past, A good friend of mine the Late Jack Sharkey was the Gaffer at their Newcastle Office, He was good crack was owld Jack, He knew the Transport game to the limits, He was also the Chairman of the Transport Managers Club, & Organised all the Dinner Dances & Pie & Pea Suppers, Regards Larry.

My father used to backload from jack sharkey in the 60’s.he has mentioned the name to me many times over the years.

Hi all, When filling up with diesel at Monarch Newcastle the filler pipe came through a hole in the wall! Health and safety springs to mind. Roger.

Hi Andrew, I used to load from Jack Sharkey " Alright Boy - got an ingot for ya out a Consett to Llanwern " I think IIRC it paid about £80 in those days! A lovely bloke Jack- always paid on time.

Brilliant weather for abergavenny show, some lovely looking motors on display, especially a ford d1618 from thomas of brynmawr, it was absolutly spotless, but the star of the show was hancocks of nelson old steam sentinel that looked like ithad just rolled off the production line :sunglasses:

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news all, but have to announce the very sad and sudden death of Steve Prince on the bank holiday.

He will be deeply missed both by myself and all of my colleagues at Finning as both a friend and a fantastic driver and crane operator.

Omg :open_mouth: that is such a shock!steve was a bit older than me,I first met him 30 plus years ago when his parents owned the fairways hotel in porthcawl.in more recent times he used to call into work and see me now and again.sad news r.i.p. mate.
