The truck behind the Foden is Bryan’s first DAF.

rich griff, it was a one off they went to sale to buy trucks, but turned out to be ex bp/shell tractors. not sure how many he had, but 2 other company had some off beers.one driver said do what i did extend the cab, i cant remember the guys name, but his brother is D.C HAYWOOD he had a day cab volvo f10.so beers try and make one up. they also knew another haulier, who did the same thing. the first one they did was more of a box as the roof was slopded in and water started to leak in cab, next they looked at atkinson, and did a proper job. one thing i couldnt fault them, inside was padded out very comertable and warm in winter as there was no side windows or back windows. had lights and and a shelf to put your telly on. the outside of the boe was fibri glass all over, so there was no draft. they also found then it was i little lighter in weight from a full sleeper cab. 290 BIG CAMS Flying machines at 38t. the last 401 day cab was sent away, came back as a proper sleeper cab, the cab was a little bigger and a wider bed.IMI, used to send their cabs away. so beers wernt the only ones to put boxes on backs of day cabs.
here is pic of another firm with a box on the back
