Evening Gentlemen, Welsh National Opera, two TR280s, two TF231s, (wonder who got the short straw)!! Handed over at a big do at the Royal Festival Hall, (why not in Cardif)? Then straight off on a tour, Berlin, Dresden,Leipzig.

Brian McMaster was the WNO man, regailed us with tales of how all parked trailers at their premises had to be locked…otherwise the Cardiff “ladies of the night” availed themselves of the facilities! The star Rita Hunter was also present, a real live wire, and not at all what you would expect an Opera star to be like. She won the hearts of my Italian clients who attended the hand over.

Nice shade of red those lorries, I recall seeing one TR280 at Ackers Jarrets yard in Walsall around 87ish, still in WNO livery , so they must have lasted!

Cheerio for now.

dont hear tin plate so much these days.

Hello andrew,
Shame that the john portlock picture was not put on a couple of weeks ago ,as there was a gentleman in our local greengrocers that worked there most of his life,he sadly died recently, but i will ask his daughter if she remembers the lorry.
