Hello Noisy Jake or Mark,I didn`t work for Gloystarne themselves,I was on the bog rolls for Herberts on days ,I used to share a wagon with Tony Kinsey who was usually on nights .I used to do a weekend load for Gloystarne while I was with Herberts and afterwards when I was driving a Mobile Library. The last time we met I think was when you were in Porthcawl and I was driving the Road train on the seafront
Best Wishes

hi all,
my computers at home can no longer use photobucket?,so i have to use the office pc at work, which at the moment works fine with photobucket,i am trying to upgrade, though for reasons best known to photobucket they won’t let me :exclamation: :imp: :smiling_imp:, i am in the frustrating position of having dozens of photos to share, though no means of posting them at home on trucknet…anyway a very good long standing friend of mine (SIMON) called in recently and gave me these from the mid-80’s.derek crouch had several opencasts across south wales and at the llanharan site, after issues with local residents, they decided to move everything to scotland.simon recorded the move with his camera :sunglasses: thanks si :sunglasses: .

Hi Andrew

I really enjoy seeing all the pics all you Welsh lads put up - tis a shame that you’re having trouble with photobucket - tis also a shame that I can’t see the last couple that you’ve put up…is it just me or is anyone else having the same problem?

I put an article on Bubbs Scrapbook thread yesterday about a couple of South wales based Thornycroft Antars - I can put them on here as well if you like? Does anyone here remember them or have experience of them working?

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the comments.i think? That I may? Be able to use photobucket from midnight onward? As they are now telling me I have exceeded my monthly allocation of bandwidth :unamused: :unamused: I don’t think it’s just you having difficulty viewing images as I have had calls,pm’s and texts off people telling me that they are having problems.i did see the DMd article about the Antar’s,they have been posted on here before,I remember them on that job, building the Ely link road as it’s known these days.my mate wrote the magazine article and I always remember him telling me that one weekend after everyone had finished work some kids got one of them started and drove it into the banking, when the workers came in on Monday this Antar was still running and in gear and had dug itself into the mud :exclamation:
Regards andrew.

Well well,Mike…as soon as you mentioned the mobile library I knew who you were! Long time no see mate, how the devil are you, what you up to these days?

Hello Mark, nice to see your reply,I retired from the Library Service when I started drawing my state pension 4 years ago,I still did the odd jobs for a mate of mine who had a minibus business, but when I let my HGV and bus licences go last year he bit the bullet and chucked it in too (hes a few years older than me.) Weve got 3 grandchildren,my kids have dogs I look after sometimes and weve got a touring caravan we use as much as possible,(please dont start me off on the bloody amateur lorry drivers I encounter when I am pulling it on the motorways),so I try to keep busy.
I`ll keep an eye out for you on the road,
Best Wishes
