South Wales Hauliers sixties and seventies onwards (Part 1)

mechanic77:
Dai Echo has just increased his fleet size by importing this trailer into South Wales for extra living space at the truck shows.
Thanks go the SteelboyF10 for making this happen.
These pictures were taken shortly after crossing the border.
Neil.

Hi Dai, good job you beat the hurricane! to the border!!!
Trailer looks well, good winter project for you and the family?
Glad the trip went well, SBF10

Price:

ec14:
price of llandovery had a very early f10 tcy 260s.hywel will confirm this also o.j.williams in st.clears had some early f10s

I am not sure who had the first F10 from Griffin Mill. Our F10 - TCY 260S was reg-- 9/3/78.
There was not many S reg F10s around, but then the T reg were everywhere.
N&A James’s was a T reg F12, - they never had a F10.
I’ve added some S reg photos. Regards - Hywel.

CLASSIC!

to be fair, i have never heard of Baldrys transport, did they buy it from the Griffins garage in Ross on wye or Pontypridd.
not sure which was opened first but guessing it would be pontypridd, the f86 was very popular around the borders griffin mill sold loads around hereford to Bulmers, Sun valley poultry etc.
anyone know who bought the first 88!

hi holhan48,
i dare say that f86 was from pontypridd, the old place near the town centre.got it in my head? they were bedford dealers before volvo? wouldn’t be the first time i have got it wrong though :exclamation: remember going there (upper boat) as a kid, before they moved to the later facility overlooking the a470.with regard to the first f88,again i wouldn’t know the correct answer.a good guess would be caswell’s or evans of brynmawr.maybe  the one bookworm mentioned was the first :question:i am guessing the first f88 in wales would be a g or h reg  j&m transport on stormy down had ytg 480h,but they bought that one second hand with a kipppered engine :exclamation:
regards andrew.
