Evening all, Andrew, I know I`m getting old when I look at pictures of kit like this, and I remember the families 80ton Foden, Micky Mouse, (apologies Space Ship Sputnik…oh what tommy rot)!! 150 Gardner, 12speed. She moved a few “Panzers” from Castlemartin, but the Police used to moan when you had to stop to turn the hubs down,to get up the big banks! But she always “got there”, and never let us down, and apart from b…, up my knees, I just loved her!! That gear change was so quick, and the old Micky Mouse cab was not so bad, (unless you wanted to go to sleep)!!?

Where in Bridgend do Smiths operate from? Bet I would not recognise the place now! Thanks again, Cheerio for now,

Hi saviem,
Thanks for your post.i bet that foden bucked a bit pulling tanks through pembroke :sunglasses: .the modern heavy haulage kit has come a long way since the foden’s good old days.smiths are based on Bridgend industrial estate.john Raymond’s roundabout (as it is still known) is very near one of the entrances of the estate.earlier today I was near smiths yard,at Celtic tyres and I bumped into my old mate Allen esposti,a proper guy in a proper truck pulling a proper trailer :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Hi all,
Good stuff again from oily thanks for sharing. Here’s something you don’t see much of anymore,a welsh motor with a flatbed coiler on his way to the midlands after leaving the abbey :exclamation:

You missed out one other major rarity Andrew,… a British built truck.
Neil.

Hi Neil,
Yes I forgot about that.look at Steve and Gareth parked somewhere in 1989 :sunglasses: .

back in the late 80’s these were trucks doing a job,now they are classics :sunglasses: .
