yes we did have loads of 80s but we plodded on and they gave us hardly any trouble atall and we all earned afab living out of them i went everywhere in mine bloody lovely truck bad luck sounds like you had a duff one regards rowland
hiya,
Rowland how you doing mate, we had a couple and they both gave problems, I don’t think they was man enough to be classed as 32 tonners about a six wheeled rigid with that engine would have been plenty, now the 110s which came at the same time were a different motor altogether, I would have “killed” to get one of them as my motor, instead I had to settle for the odd trip in them, they did need a crowbar to get me out of the cab after every little spell I managed to get a go in one.
thanks harry, long retired.

Hi Harry,
To be honest with you, whilst I like Scania’s,I have NEVER understood or agreed with the whole “scarnia king of the road” thing that the manufacturers sales people ram down your throat!
Thought it poignant to post this catnic p cab today as she’s being driven by the much missed echo one and today is the day of his grandson dewi’s first birthday.

chris143:
ive heard some stories about percy baily, he was a character by all accounts, my dad was on the rockwool he had his first brand new truck with a bed on that job a scania 82 JWS127X, there was a driver there who was a photographer called Trevor Owen who was always clicking away with the camera he also had a shop in stationhill porthcawl i would love to see his collection of pics…
yes chris he certainly was a character, my dad told me a few tales about him. then you had his brother! a character from john raymonds was Mad Al, he was as crazy as they come! got fed of being messed about by a security gaurd on one drop and ended up reversing the trailer through the gates! you dont get them like that anymore.
me and percy were delivering reels of paper to huskinson docks in l/pool and the checker wanted us to stack them all on end in the corner i started to argue with the dock checker when percy reversed back and shot all the paper off in a pile so i followed the checker said to percey you wont get out to which our percey said tell the copper to have steel toe caps on cos we are not stopping he was quite a good mate
