hi john,
thanks for that mate, once i had sobered up,this morning harry and i met up with bubbs and dave :sunglasses:

a few motors with welsh connection’s for paul john from a wet, though still great gaydon.

i think  this foden was once owned by the linsey family from morriston.

If I am right Roger Tanner had a yard near somerton in newport which was next to the main railway line , access to the yard was not the best.On my first visit to the yard to see his transconts there were 2 ex Rhys Davies ones being used for spares ‘P’ regs I think. In the garage was a white one which had a tartan stripe around the cab. outside there were 3 white transconts that were in use , APT 191W , JKG 500W and JKG 515W . On later visits 2 of these were in a similar green livery that Rhys Davies had. On later visits there were other transconts in the yard but I am not sure they were Rogers. I will check my books from that time . I have got photos somewhere once I find them I will put them on here.
The guy down by Bird port was called Ashley and he spoke with a passion for his transconts and had many a story of his travels to tell, he had quite a few of all ages and spec , however has said all are now gone .

Nesberts yard was in whitchurch cardiff if my memory is correct on my visits always had a transcont in , on one occassion I found 4 there.

hope the info is of some help.

my old mate richard stanier from stoke has restored this ex charles footman 401 :sunglasses:

Good post Tony,
this yard you mention, would it be near Liswery pond?, and accessed by turning off Chepstow road near the Dr Who scarfed ‘Tardis box’ onto a street of houses then tuning right [Libeneth road] running parallel with the rail line ending up with a load of metal sheds on your left.?

Hello Neil yep thats the one, there have been a number of uses of the yard since the transconts left. Just missed you friday night passing down through abercarn on your way to gaydon, my youngest left his camera so had to go back to his mams for it and you passed us. We did manage to see Andrew and ec14 on the m4 made my boys day.I’ll put the photos on tomorrow. sounds like you had a cracking weekend.
You going to swansea next weekend.

hi tony,
yes,i mentioned it to ec14 that night, hope we get to see your sons pictures.the evans boys are fine, they are on trucknet,so will have read your comment :sunglasses: . roger hastings told me he had spoken to you.
regards andrew

The thinking was that the yellow Transcon above was ex LC Lewis of Gwent, but after extensive research [looking in a book] it seems its one number out from LC Lewis’ 6x4 Transcon GVX 492T, I’m guessing they both started life in Fords own fleet, Tony may know more…

nice pic Neil last time I saw this one it was pale blue and at Donnington , looks a nice restoration. As you say Lewis’ had 492T which had at one stage been bought with restoration in mind , last I heard of 492T was that it had been sold on again to some one up north. I will dig around in my notes and see if I can come up with some information.

Hi Andrew, Neil and all the Steel boys, just a brilliant show of trucks, you all put in so much effort and graft and made a lot of peoples day especially mine. I met some smashing people and the trucks are a credit to you all. I’m looking forward to the next Gaydon show, regards Rowland.

Hello mate
It was good to meet you Saturday night, I think it must be Andrew what a star he is, just ■■■■■■ me off a bit after seeing your video, there are three Evans boy’s in there, I don’t know but I’m sure I know there dad Gerry very well, I could be wrong but the looks are right, don’t know Jason Dean that well but we have passed the time of day a lot of years ago, places like Ellesmere Port tipping waste paper, Liverpool docks loading or tipping ( waiting hours and hours ) Sunday was a ■■■■ up, I just hooked up and went home but looking at the pic’s on here I missed the best day.
cheers
John.
