South Mimms - Night Security Guard

Punchy Dan:
I can’t understand what makes folks park in these over priced stinky holes , is it that they dare not to park somewhere isolated or out side the next address , however I do understand that if you are unfortunate to have to travel to anywhere near London you may have to use such holes .

Lack of knowlege, and/or initiative I reckon, and fear of being told off :unamused: , for going off route to find a good place to park near proper facilities.
So being that it would be the only way they will ever find decent spots, they’re destined to a life of drudgery style tramping parking in said crapholes.
Think I would last about a fortnight if I had to suffer them nightly.

How sad. A group of adults who complain verbatim about problems, and yet when one person sends an email to try and improveme things rather than vowing to do the same, they simply try and criticize that person. People have a low opinion of truck drivers because of the sorts of knuckle draggers that frequent this site.

Everyone on here has access to the internet. And we all have too much time on our hands if we can post on here. Time will tell if security measures are implemented but I’d strongly suggest anyone capable of composing a mildly coherent email does so if they face problems rather than whining on here.

We’re all unedumacated truck drivers who struggle to write with anything except a green crayon, I’ve only got O"levels.

I got O levels too, I checked them with a dipstick, proper clever me.
To be fair though, I could never park a Cessna at Mimms, or coherently use a full stop before “and” , I leave that kind of stuff to the intellects, the clever ones that take the ■■■■ out of people diagnosed with and being treated for cancer like this utter [zb] for brains Walt…

F.A.O mods: yep, this one might or might not be on pre-mod, I don’t care either way.
His posts and topics always begin by appearing innocent enough but are designed so that the rest of the content is 60/40. 60% “I’m brilliant and none of you are” and then 40% layered insults and abuse at other posters who don’t fawn over him and swallow it all.
He had me over my cancer and the posts were deleted but I don’t forget. I no longer think he is tramp or dr Damon I just think he is another of many idiots who read this site and then pick out things that will get a reaction just so he can throw some insults and the cry about the feedback, like I said in another topic of his that got locked/deleted, it’s the same M.O every time from these planks and maybe that’s why there is a constant reference to multiple accounts?
If he wants attention then take him off pre mod and let him get it, we are all grown up, if he doesn’t like it then he can fly off into the sunset…

+1
remember he cant fly until he passes his pilots licence :unamused:
that saves me the trouble of posting similar…lets see how long the ( look how hard done to i am for being a nice friendly innocccent puppy ) character lasts.
sooner or later by chance then there may or may not be some token security bod at lymm ( why shouldnt there be) and somehow thatl be wangled into a " i told you so " post.
im wondering how long itl take to draw up and post some sort of email similar to the big nightshift payment, though i suppose we will need to wait till the bestest best mates login to vouch again.
tota drivvle from start to finish working from the same old script though why anyone would want to spend a night at sth mimms through choice is beyond me. it started off as passable, then rapidly went downhill to where its remained.

South Mimms…er no

oops.
i was reading a post elsewhere about lymm at the same time as replyng to the o/p`s pish…please accept my wholehearted apologies my good man for the mistake…all sorted now…carry on,as you were…

I wasn’t replying to you(specifically)dd999.
It’s just my general sentiment.

Please or offend if I’m not supplied with a company fuel card, would not be using my own money NO WAY… the company can pay to get the motor towed.

END OF…

Dan - i) I didn’t pay to park. I was stopping to get my head down for an hour. I wouldn’t pay for services if it were my money paying for it. ii) The Scania mechanic put some fuel in to get it started (2 jerry cans so about 30-40l) and that unit does significantly more than 9mpg - more like 16. It’s a 69 plate 4 legger 410hp model and is ridiculously good on fuel.

Robroy - I’m not a tramper mate. And I don’t really choose to park anywhere. I was getting to the point of being dangerously tired so I pulled over to the first place. At that point on the m25 it was the best option (until my one hour nap turned into 6 hours stuck there).

My good friend Doggy - you can fly a plane (on your own!) before you have a licence. But only under the supervision of an instructor (he tells you what to do before you set off). It’s called doing your first solo. In fact your not allowed to do your test to get your PPL until you have a minimum of 10 solo hours, and a certain number have to be cross country distance flights.

Just to clarify…I like dd999,but not south mimms

Why fill the tank to the brim if you know you’re parking up for the night? This forum is filled with warnings of thefts from services, common sense tells you to leave it till morning.

He thought he were flying a jet plane and didn’t want to run out at 30000 feet …

A while ago people were posting that services should offer security.

I recently had 600l of diesel stolen whilst I was sleeping on a break at South Mimms. Whoever did it was impressively good - they didn’t leave any mess and didn’t make nearly any noise.

I was a bit upset about this. I had so little fuel I couldn’t even make it to the pumps. So the company I was driving for needed to call out Scania - fortunately, they are just around the corner. But it was a big inconvenience to me - and hugely expensive for the company. As I had no fuel card - I had to use my personal credit card and put £100 in just to get me back.

Anyway - after all the inconvenience I decided to write Rod Mckie who is the CEO of Welcome Break. I’m informed they will now be putting on a night security guard in the truck services shortly.

If people do get bad service I’d advise them to write to the companies rather than just assume nothing can be done. Anyone parking in South Mimms in the future has me to thank for their security and safety. You are all welcome. :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Standard offise answer will shortly do …

Why fill up full tank ??Can fill up at the morning.

He didn’t have a fuel card so how did he fuel up? Are 1000 litres tanks/twin tanks unknown in the UK?

They are on fleet spec, 6x2, even on a rigid biggest STD tank is 500L, our V4 have biggest tank from Volvo 540L.

Me thinks the sammym the agency pilots storey might have grown, to 600L.

Maybe he just thought it was 600 litres? I have to say I really don’t know how much fuel our tanks hold - but an empty tank is just as empty regardless of whether it is now holding 400 litres or 1000 litres of fresh air…
