Sounds like a lovely journey

Work is due to begin on Monday to create Britain’s longest and most complicated contraflow system.
The contraflow comes into force between the Gordano Services area and Clevedon on the M5, for a total of nine miles.

It has taken six months of planning by engineers from the Highways Agency and will allow work to begin on building new crawler lanes on both carriageways.

The plan is to reduce congestion during peak holiday times. Motorists are warned speed cameras will operate.

A Highways Agency spokesman said the new lane were being introduced because heavy lorries and caravans currently crawl up the hills and cause long motorway tailbacks.

Work is expected to last for more than six months

My dad recently told me that he was in some road works somewhere or other with a 40mph speed limit and a type of police camera van was in lane 1 doing about 38, just under 40 so my dad crawled past at 40 and he noticed a little sort of hatch or window on the side of the van, and I think he said there was a mirror and he claims that they use this in roadworks to catch speeders as they overtake the van. My dad took ages to get past this van, they obviously weren’t gonna get any prosecutions with him there so they slowed down to get him past so they could continue the hunt for their prey.
