If it’s like another tipper operator (that had “Midlands” in its’ title, you’ll be run ragged and laid off once you’re entitled to paid holidays.

Well I am "out " sounds like too much rushing around for me !! also sounds like your get your head kicked in if you smash a step off .
Look on the bright side still maybe better than two black eyes and a fat lip from Bewick for using gloves to rope a flat with.

So who would work for someone who constructs an advert like this? We’ve plenty of knuckle draggers hankering for the 1970s again on here so there’ll be no shortage of applicants. Several of the prime suspects seem to have already posted.
Hourly rate is decent but he’ll want you chasing your arse around everywhere. Shame the company name isn’t there as I’m sure if it was there would be people who live in the area they cover who’d confirm they’re flat out on the limiter everywhere all the time.
You mean the militant 1970’s when there were no tachos to keep a check on breaks. When unions were unions and did what they said on the tin.
But yes I’d reply to the ad…and ask him if he’d be interested in making it a job share on a 3 days on 4 days off rota and if not why not.

Because he doesn’t have to, it’s his firm and he can employ people on the terms he wants to.

£ to a penny not a driver facing camera to be found there.Who needs that when he’ll be asking questions about every, perceived as, unproductive minute shown on the tacho.
Unless you know him, you dont know that.
Haulier sounds similar to me, we had no inward cameras and nor would we have. I was known for being a hands off boss, I believe in employing the right people, do some hand holding for a couple of months and then far as I’m concerned, you manage on your own. We’d let people plan their own routes when not loaded, discuss routings and timings on difficult runs and if you were out for a couple of weeks, you’d probably hear from me about twice.

I try not to, it’s better for my mental health.
never wanted to do tipper work because of the “rush rush” mentality, but if I ever did that is the type of bloke I would want to work for…

Rjan can reply to that. Two people employed on around £20,000 pa each for a 3 day week sounds good to me.
Although I have the slight suspicion that might still actually turn out to be 12 days worth of work, for a grand per week combined or less.On that note the film Hell Drivers was based on the 1950’s work ethic definitely not 70’s. ![]()

You can bet and be confident that the job would be a paradise of decent breaks and easy runs.Although Muckaway doesn’t seem to agree for some reason. He needs to stop with the negative waves.Just think it’s going to be a great job and it will be there. ![]()
In my early…
Days,I drove 8 leggers for a firm that wasn’t quite Hell Drivers but you could earn more by pushing on and getting more loads in. But, it wasn’t a life changing amount and on most jobs the absolute looneys (and I’m talking suicide jockeys) only made one more load than the rest of us. I never felt it was worth it for all the risks involved. Don’t get me wrong, I cracked on with the best of them (there’s only so much a split windscreen Foden can do) but just couldn’t see the point of nearly killing myself and possibly other motorists for a few quid more.
On the rare occaisions that members of team looney were stationary, all they could ever jabber on about was how fast they were and how much more they were earning. You should have heard them when they just missed the bonus.
Oddly, they drove to work in old Cortinas and Escorts like the rest of us did.
The gaffer had a Jaguar XJ and got a new one every two years.
he did have a rover once but after it fell to bits inside of 9 months he went back to jaguar.

I bet he won’t. It’s generally the ‘logistics specialists’ that do that. In my experience once you prove you can do the job without taking the ■■■■ and just get on with it employers like him are the ones who just leave you alone to get on with it

Yes I would work for a boss like that.
It sounds like ’ what you see is what you get’.
Let me join the chorus in saying it’s an ok advert, better than 90% of what’s out there - the fact that they didn’t use “competitive salary” and “x days of paid holiday” where x is 20-24 under “Job advantage” already puts them in the top 10% of ads I’d call if I was looking for a job.
What does he mean about cutting breaks short for ‘emergency deliveries’, is that code for putting tacho on break while tipping etc, that was the only real off-putting thing I read, contradicts the running legal statement he made earlier and part of me thinks if he felt the need to state he runs legal he probably doesn’t!
£14-£17 per hour…and still having to advertise!
I smell sheet.

But seriously what’s the problem ?.As Rjan said the only answer can be that it makes them feel good to think that they are over working someone when there’s absolutely no need for it in many cases.
Someone who talks that straight has to expect it back and that would suit me down to the ground, if i needed a job i would definitely go for that - breath of fresh air. The industry needs more like this.
The “job interview” would be a 2 way thing - as it always should be.

I read that as it’s his choice if you have 9 hours off instead of 11.

To be fair it would be more likely to just mean get moving after taking 30 or 45 minutes because the customer is waiting for it urgent instead of an hour or a 45 in that case.
