Sounds iffy to me

Apparently…

The lady was shunted across the tracks by another car. I can only asume it’s all on CCTV somewhere.

Just seems a bit, sorta, not quite right.

Let’s get this right stops at a level crossing then gets out and goes for a walk then somehow the car gets rear ended by a …train.

It’s saying she got shunted onto the tracks by another car . Then got out .
Obv thing to do would be put your foot down driver over the crossing surely?

Either way she’s lucky to be alive

More than a few cars will kill their engines (cut off fuel and sparks) if clouted. Typically requiring a reset button in the boot (or similar “hidden” location) to be pressed. It’s intended as a fire/safety feature.

Having seen so many rail/car accident videos people freeze and do the most idiotic things once they get onto a rail line, even if the car’s still running they’ll invariably drive the wrong way or try turning round or doing a hundred things other than what is obvious to us…us that is having the benefit of hindsight and a birds eye view from cctv footage to view at our leisure is a bit different to being in that panic as a train doing 80mph is hurtling straight at you.

Actually talking of videos, if you ever thought Russian roads were dangerous, have you see the Chinese videos :open_mouth: , is there a driving test of any description in China?

There’s a link to an article in the local paper on the same page. The paper makes no mention of a second car hitting her, but says she skidded on ice and ended up on the track, which seems much more likely.

There’s a quote from the train company on one of the local newspaper websites:

A Greater Anglia spokesman said: “At around 07.20 today, the 07.05 Clacton-on-Sea to London Liverpool Street service struck a car at Frating Level Crossing, between Great Bentley and Alresford.

The incident is being investigated, but we believe icy road conditions caused a car to be shunted on to the tracks and it was clipped by a passing train and came to a stand near a derelict outbuilding. Nobody was injured.

It was just on BBC look east. Another car skidded into the back of her and shunted her onto the tracks.

Isn’t there a camera looking down on all these level crossings these days?

…That’ll confirm who’s story is truth or fiction here.

I’d imagine if the woman is entirely at fault, she’ll have been charged with a crime…
…Or at least lost her no-claims bonus!

Clipped seems to something of an understatement!

Star down under.:

Maybe being clipped by a train, is akin to being clipped by Frank Bruno?
