It is tosh,i asked an agency not to place me on a night shift, they did, bulk milk tankers and supermarket delivery with milk cages, did it for 3 months,to get in with them.At the time,i could not refuse to do it.
Better than a kick in the teeth or even JSA which doesn’t seem to be much better.
Did a back to back shift,ie,did a night shift,come home,sleep for 9 hours off,then a day shift,they were well chuffed,all legal too.
There is a site called www,jobrapdo.co.uk that posts up job ads. some of them might even be genuine. You have to try every thing, glad I aint young now.

jessicas dad:
im registed with drivelink in castleford and every week they phone and ask if im avalible for next week i say yes and then they will be in touch
every week is the same.
so last night im looking on the job centre and they advertising for roadways in leeds doing nightly dock shunts so today i phoned them put them in a corner and they admitted they dont have any work on and just want drivers on their lists.
tossers.
Ha, Drivelink and Roadways, both full of it.
My regular night job has gone from 5/6 nights to 1 if I’m lucky, so I went in for a chat with Drivelink and said:-
“you have 7.5t and 3.5t jobs advertised on the JC website doing Day work, I want one”.
“But you’re a class 1 driver” he said,
“I know but there’s no work for me”.
“OK, do this 3.5t job for a week” he eventually said.
Good, regular money £7.50 for 39 hours, better than nowt.
Turned up on Monday to find out I’m a drivers mate for a week. Lifting cookers, fridge freezers, heavy furniture from the back of a Luton van.
I phoned Drivelink and kicked off on Monday, they didn’t give a toss.
I then called them on Wednesday and said:-
“I want the 7.5t job for next week”,
“but you’re a class 1 driver”,
“I know that but there’s no work” I told him.
“That’s the Argos job, I’ll put your name forward if I can”. WTF
I’d applied for a ADR Van driver job for ALH Ltd and was asked to go in for an interview on Saturday, I asked how much the pay was, “£6.75 for a 3 month probation then going up to £7.00”. I politely declined an interview. ADR van driver for £7 an hour, now who’s extracting the urine? My ADR cost me a great deal of money., hahaha.
