Sorry about this c+e in a month's time

Hello people.
Some of you may have read my other thread regarding my confidence regarding doing my c+e.

Well I have now finished paying for it and it’s next month.
I am absolutely bricking it.
My parents keep saying oh you’ll be fine but I honestly think I am going to screw it up in a huge way. I’m not getting proper sleep just thinking about it all the time.
My last training school were useless and made me feel like I could not do anything right.

I just want to do this to get on the road properly. I have had enough of my safe but soul destroying job.

I have never been great at tests and normally I do well at the drives but once the test kicks in I am all over the place.

I know will go on after a fail but it’s still a horrible feeling.
Thing is this is what I want to do.

I am just getting myself worked up and I hate it.

Does anyone have any advice and if any of you guys have thought the same.

Thanks for reading this and apologies for this post.
Thomas

I was nervous in my first test (failed) the first company i trained with rushed it I had two half days of training.

Second company (Flare) they are brilliant.

Before my second test I took some Rescue remedy worked for me got a small bottle from boots. Went into the toilets about 5 minutes before I was due to start my test. Put a few drops on my tongue my nerves were gone.

Thanks hopefully with the new instructors they will make me more at ease

State of mind…

You are thinking about this all wrong, and you need to change the way you are approaching it. Yes you have the worry that if you fail it will cost you more money, but you cannot influence that by worrying about it, SO FORGET IT!!!

You need to believe in yourself and your new trainer, do no let your old trainer influence you now. If your new trainer is any good, they will give you all that you need to pass first time and it’s then down to you to ensure you pass, as if you don’t, it’s down to you and not them. So your state of mind should be that you have the skills, you have had the training, and if you do everything that you have been taught, then you WILL PASS!!!

Don’t give failure a second thought, as all you are doing is opening the door for this to happen…

Best of luck!

Thanks Evil for your advice. Im going with Peter Smythe and the instructor is called Chris.
I am looking forward to it as I have only heard good things about these guys.
Thanks again Thomas

That being the case, you have little to worry about. Winding yourself up is totally destructive so try not to do it (easier said than done I know).

Everything is stacked in your favour; take advantage of it. Try to relax and enjoy the experience - it’s really not that bad!

You really have very little to worry about then! I passed in April with Peter Smythes (Pete himself instructed me!) and everyone there was brilliant! My first instructors really messed me about and I had a terrible experience, but PSTT were excellent and Im happily trunking up and down the country now
Take some deep breaths and relax, you’ll be fine

ERR … you are going to be doing CE with one of, possibly the best, training schools in the UK and you are worried = EH !!!

Thankyou Pete I think I need to get out of the thinking about my last experience with my last trainer.
Thanks again Thomas

We do our utmost to make sure that everyone has a positive training experience with us. Unfortunately this doesn’t translate into everyone passing first time as that just isn’t ever going to happen. But we work very hard towards that goal together with enjoyment of the whole time with us.

I had Chris for both my C and C+E. Excellent instructor!

Are you worked up because driving trucks means so much to you mate? Or are you nervous because of the worry of escalating costs for example?

The reason I ask these questions are as follows; 1. If driving trucks is something you really want to do, then it makes sense to listen to your instructors and relax. They WANT you to pass. There is no advantage to them for you to fail, so trust them-after all you are PAYING for their advice/instruction. 2. Concern about cost is something that many worry about, however in my view the whole journey from application of provisionals to achieving your desired licence should be ‘taken as a whole’. You may well fail a couple of tests. But these potential failures should be treated as opportunities to learn about any driving errors, and act as a ‘challenge’ to you.

There is an over used phrase- " It’s all in the mind ". With regards to LGV training I believe it is true.

Thankyou Mrs Mac sounds like you are in the same boat as I have been.
I’m hoping that once I get in and start training all my worries will go.

Thankyou Rog, I realise that I am going with a great group of people but the way I was treated doing my class C with another school has put doubts in my mind.
Thanks again Thomas

Thankyou Pete, as said before to yourself my training for class C with the other company I completed with were not very nice swearing shouting smoking etc.
It has put doubts in my mind but once I’m up your way doing it with you guys hopefully my worries will ease.
Thanks again Thomas

Thankyou Rader19 I need a good instructor.
My last one was shouting swearing at me all the time.
For example I was coming onto a road system I had never been on and the lane system is all other the place.

When I indicated to come off he said.

What the duck are you doing? are you some sort of ducking idiot.
You’ll never pass if you duck around you ducking idiot

Thanks again Thomas

Thankyou eagerbeaver I’m nervous as truck driving means everything to me.
I’ve never been great academically and when I left school supermarket work is all I have done.

I got myself into debt so now I am free of debt I am doing something I have always wanted to do.

If I fail I will be gutted but I know I can put back in again till I do pass.

The cost of redoing will clear me out each month but I don’t care I just want to get it done.

I seem to go to jelly regarding tests but have to realise I need to keep it together for the hour and half of the test.
Thanks again Thomas
