arrrrgghhh I’m sooooo frustrated about this previous experience hurdle we newbies have to fulfil, worst case of catch 22 ever, how can I get experience if nobody will give me a start to get the experience, cost me a fortune to get my class 1, and now I cant seem to get in, help me pleeeeese somebody,or shall I stop moaning and just wait :-/
Keep at it. I applied to an advert for ad hoc work. They phoned me a few days later saying there could be a trainee position if I was willing to go full time. The TM has been on holiday all week so hopefully get in for a blether next week. I’m 39 and I think I have valuable skills and experience that I can offer, as will you. Tweek your CV to make it HGV relevant and apply for everything. Eventually your application will cross the right desk at the right time. Nothing beats knocking on doors wearing smart work gear with a printed CV in your hand and a smile on your face. Good luck.
depending how competent you are and also how much of a porky teller, then you could say youve done previous work for ( pick your own companies thats went bust ) or dependng on where you live, mabey try some northern irish companies that do english internal work as theres usualy not a lot in ireland want the english work .leg it round the doors with the smaller firms, and dont be afraid to offer going out with a regular driver for a few freebie days so they know your competent etc.you will either like or despise agencies once you use them.
