Mrs not happy, threw a wobbly after seeing tv docu called wounded about troops coming back with ONE arm.Told her we dont go out of the “gate”,thats the RAF regiments job,we just get RPGs dropped on the sleeping quarters. That new series “Generation kill” will put her off too.!!! :unamused:

Well what ever you choose good luck.

By the sound of some of the horror stories we read on here of the size of the fines now being levied by the “controls” in France, Spain etc i would rather take my chances with the Taliban!!

Buy a map you tight wad

you will still have to get up the mountain that takes you to Pamplona what ever route you choose, so I would look at getting the radiator fixed before you go, or you could go via the tunnel du somport

Long pockets!!!

So please gentleman can you please reiterate ref the route from Irun to Madrid via pamplona N101.Leave next Sunday for Malaga and allways use the NI but would like to try this way.Make it clear and simple with all available eating places and bear in mind you are dealing with someone who first done Spain in Francos time when they were still building the motorway up through La Junquera and thats not anything special I know but Im just trying to point out how old I amthanks in anticipation

Where abouts is that ?. I like that new road from Zaragoza down towards Teruel. I think they are probably just finishing the last bits about now.

as you head south on the AP15 from pamplona exit at km7 signed Madrid follow through cintruenigo(good food), agreda, olvega to almazan(very good truckstop in town). then head on N111 towards medinaceli for the A2 to madrid
best route from irun to madrid, less hills, less weighbridges or coppers and more places to park with good food and safe as houses.

all it takes is to read the post and click on the links

La Junquera was a lot more pleasant back then as I remember you could leave the truck unlocked and disappear and nowt would be stolen

CEPSA do a ■■■■ good one every year for about 7 euros well worth the money

Thanks for the route Vasco if you remember La Junquera then you must remember Segunto,Silla,Noain etc and what was the one near Figueras.
As I was in my early twenties in 1975 when I done my first Barcelona that must make you in your 60s vasco have you thought about retiring■■?

That’ll be the biggest of them all Villamaya, monster queue’s each morning but I was never away later than 10:30 if parked there from the night before. (or very early hours!! :open_mouth: )

Ross.

Many would have used the old twisty bits on the 121 from Pamplona to Irun, now its the bypass for the tunnels, that ADR loads use. Before the new road was built, many trucks went over the mountain from brake fade.

You’ve probably left by now so this wont be much use, but I sometimes used to run through Valladolid if I was going to the west side of Madrid, cant remember the road numbers as it was a while ago, I’m sure it was flatter than the N1 though.

If only I could afford it
