M62 westbound through the roadworks/SPECS/new active traffic management bit. Fully loaded to max weight. So we get to Tingley, 50s across the board on the new gantries. Next lot 50s. Next lot 30s, which rather annoyingly happen to be right at the bottom of the hill after 28, just before it climbs up towards 27 . All the rest of the gantries are 50s. 5am on a weekend morning, nothing to be seen, no sign of any work, so what the actual â– â– â– â– are they playing at?
I’m sure the usual HA wallahs on here will protest it’s all automated and nothing to do with them pressing buttons in their control room but I’m beginning to wonder…
I’m convinced they do. I can’t see why they would, but for it to be happening every day all over the country it can’t be a mistake every time. The problem is, this constant crying wolf is making the roads more dangerous for everybody, because when there really is a problem people haven’t slowed down…
Yeah, what’s that about? M25 recently: Lane 3 - 20 Lane 4 - 30 Lane 5 - 50. Seriously, how can you do 20MPH on a motorway with other traffic closing at 70 plus?!
DaiDap:
M42 was the same when I was on nights. 30mph a mile before even the first sighting of a bollard. Dunno if they’re still doing it.
Now you just have to learn which gantries have cameras and which ones don’t. Pain in the bloody arse though.
Saw that on Friday at 3am. Gantries showing 40 for a lot of the way and most vehicles going through at 50. Luckily for me I saw the cameras flash so braked hard enough not to get flashed; I was in the car going to work but I’ve seen those limits at that time in the morning show as low as 20mph!!!
I also don’t like it when they change the speeds around, ie 40, 40, 50, 40, 30, 50, 50, 40, NSL!!!
Its carry on ballroom dancing, slow slow quick quick slow.Where I work a main road has a road works and a sign Caution cyclists, well no sign of said cyclists then last night CAUTION RUNNERS there was a running race of some sort just hope that the signs are taken away soon.
