Someone's in a spot of bother

22 tonnes of tobacco smuggled into the country in the back of a lorry.

At least he wasn’t overweight, nice of him to be so considerate … an old mate of mine (rip) got fined £27,000 for allegedly importing 200.000 ■■■■ into Perth a few years ago on a ship, which had to be paid before the ship was cleared out to sail out again …

I’m impressed he (or she) put 2 ratchet straps across the back of the load.

I like the way border force say they have the technology to discover this stuff, when I bet it was mostly random good luck. How often has this been done before?

Is Phil out on parole then?

I’d agree, random luck.
Its big business out of Gib where tobacco and alcohol are so very cheap. The SBP just pull random vehicles and empty them at the border as they dont have the resources to stop and search everything. A big %age ends up just down the road in Marbella…

An ex boss of mine got several years for smuggling ■■■■ /tobacco a few years back , was out for a year then caught again.
It’s not as if he needed the money as he had made a few million when he sold the company ,it’s just the thrill of getting away with it for some of them .
They only catch a very small percentage of whats coming in , or going out .
Going out it’s usually cash that can’t be justified or stolen cars ,plant or machinery .

Few years ago it was from Morocco to Spain, we sold our little coaster to a Greek chap for the ■■■ trade and he offered me £500 a week and 1% of the profits to take her to the Med and do it. The reason he wanted a ship so quickly was because his other one was under arrest in Marsaille and the crew banged up so thanks but no thanks !! Not a bad wage for 1976
