Somebody check my weekly rest

Hi all

Just finished my first week at a cash and carry for an agency. The cash and carry operates Mon to Sat deliveries, so this is new for me.

Mon 0800 to 1400
Tue 0800 to 1400
Wed 0800 to 15.30
Thu 0800 to 16.30
Fri 0800 to 1700
Sat 0800 to 1300
20 hours driving total for the 6 days

Im due to start again on Mon at 0800 giving me a weekly rest of 43 hours. I expect to do the same hours again next week so on Mon I can include the 2 hours of weekly rest in with my daily rest?

Have I got this right? Just need to put my mind at ease

You will of reduced by two hours, so you got to pay them back within a period of three weeks. Which if you finish at 1400 and dont start till 0800 you will of paid it back the next day so think you are fine.

Somebody will tell me if I am not right though

Next weekly rest MUST be a 45

you can - 11 hours off will do it BUT it does not make the reduced weekly rest into a full weekly rest - it just pays back the time owed

It’s legal as long as you have a regular 45 hour weekly rest period next week.

In any 2 consecutive weeks you should have either 2 regular weekly rest period or a regular weekly rest period and a reduced weekly rest period.

In other words you must have a regular (45 hour) weekly rest at least every other week.

How many weeks are you going to be on this job ?

I don’t know Rog. Its a easy number with more lifting than driving, so I would like to stay as long as possible until a full time job turns up. The agency have lost me in their explination of RTD/WTD etc saying I’ll be fine, but I don’t think so myself. Looks like I will need every second Saturday off.

That’s no surprise :unamused:
You catch on quick

Any chance you can get them to move the times a little so a 45 can be done ?

Maybe you’ll be able to finish 2 hours earlier on Saturday or finish 1 hour earlier Saturday and start 1 hour later Monday every other week.

Always worth asking

Nah, you just need to get your arse into gear and finish by 11:00 on every second Saturday. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

I can ask

The problem is its shops im delivering to. Most of them are 9am opening or they dont want me turning up at 6am with 12 pallets :open_mouth: .

To keep the peace, I think I will try the every second sat off and see what they say.

As a professional driver I never break the speed limit

Nah, your right I need to pull the finger out

Then suggest that starting at 10am on Mondays will solve the problem if they don’t mind the delivery 2 hours late of course …

The other thing I should say is the drivers mates all start at 6am to load vehicles and sort deliveries. So their working times are all in this too. They should all finish at 2pm. I’m not sure if a weekly rest counts for them as well

Hi all

Just an update to the situation I was in with weekly rest when working six days. The full-time drivers at this cash & carry have every second sat off. So I phoned my agency and said I would like every second Sat off as thats what the full timers do.

I was then told that as Im no full time I could work every Sat as long as it averages out over 26 weeks. I ask what if I work every Mon to Sat for the next 26 weeks, how does it average out or how do I sort it? The reply was…Ok just have every second Sat off :open_mouth: :unamused:

Just goes to show, without trucknet Id be none the wiser. Cheers trucknet

Your agency bod was getting confused with the WTDs average 48 hours weekly working time.

Your problem was that you could not comply with the weekly rest requirements which is an entirely different matter.

Seems it’s sorted now anyway though
