Some tachograph help for a newbie

raxore:
Just another question when I put my card back in, in the morning does it just assume I’ve been on break since I took it out?

It depends on the age of the tachograph, if it’s a type 1 digital tachograph (pre mid 2012) you don’t have to manually book the time the card was out of the tachograph, if the tachograph is a type 2 tachograph (late 2012 onwards) it will book the time the card was out of the tachograph, I’ve always liked to check it books rest for the time the card was out.

Whichever type of tachograph you use if you leave it on rest mode when you eject the driver card you should be OK.

A simple way to keep track of your daily driving time is to note the fortnightly total at the start of your day, then see what it is on at any point (when the wheels aren’t turning). This certainly works for a vdo type, don’t know stoneridge, but presume this info is readily available?

What truck you driving? Surely it should be displayed somewhere on the dash display
