Some of my old trucks cont'd

Unloading in Zargreb, Croatia

Parked in Dover waiting to clear customs with another one of our drivers

After the 85 I moved onto the Iveco when Gary got a new 95ssc

Parked up on the French side at the entrance to the Blanc on rout to somewere in Italy

The Mont Blanc

View of the entrance to the tunnel from the French side

View from the service’s at the bottom of the French side before you start the climb, hopefully you can make out the road on the stilts

View from the parking area on the French side when you exit the tunnel from Italy, looking down over Chamonix and the steep hairpins on the way down

Managed to sneek into Truckfest this year (1996) I think, parked here next to a mate of mine and OD Martin Headley with whom I spent many a weeknd with in Dover as he used to do regular Italy

Another OD and regular Italy driver and good friend Mark Kendrew, he was actually in one of the trucking mags a few months ago with his silver topline

Afew of the boys from Hinchliffes a local company to me who have sadly gone out a business some years ago, but Paul who’s truck is the furthest ERF in the pic has started agian with a Daf ssc. If I remember the sacnia in the pic is that of Joe Sharpe when he first started up and what a tidy fleet he’e got now

Great post and pics paul, brings back a lot of memorys of when we all worked together.

Happy Days

Bilko

Hi Dave I thought you might like these, yes they were the days, still miss the international side of the job after 9 years away from it. If I rememeber C 556 DND was your motor at the time cant remember were we were parked but looking at the motors it was myself, yourself, Gary in the Iveco and Brian Nabb in the 85.

Good pics

I have enjoyed looking at those pics Paul, especially the old DAF and Steyr.

I had a 2800. 3300 and 3600 while my mate drove a Steyr for Chris Brearley. I was in the process of buying a new Steyr but ended up with a C reg 2800 FTG in 1986

There’s a name from the past, Chris Brearley, we used to do alot of subbying off Chris especially the old eastern bloc countries, Rumo, Bulgy, Yugo were favourites at the time. If i remember rightly he does or did live in Yorkshire around the Halifax area, I remember going to his house in the truck one day as I was passing to either collect payment for a job done or running money as I had loaded in the area and was shipping out.
The Daf was a good motor in its day and would still be in my top 5 trucks even with todays improved trucks on the road now, we used to have quite a few of them ranging from 2800’s to 3600’s and dafdave on here used to have a 3300 space cab and that was a tool and half and he wasnt a happy chap when he had to move to a newer truck.
The Steyr again a good motor and I think we actually got that off Chris Brearley, I will see if I can get any more pics off the old gaffer of it and maybe even the reg

Paul

a think paul hs kicked up again i have seen a few motor’s runnin about a tidy erf ec an merc and a daf ssc

Yep thats right Paul Hinchliffe has started up again under his own name but still in the colours of the old firm. Paul is driving the Daf ssc and I have seen 1 other motor in the colours but dont know who is driving for him. I havent actually seen Paul for a few years but we used to meet often in Trinitiy paper mill in Ramsbottom, as the firm in the pics I was working for did the international side with some UK as well and Hinchliffes did the bulk of the UK work.

Ive managed to get a few more pics off the old boss so I will try and get them on tomorrow, got a couple of your old 3300 spacecab Dave,

Paul
