if you want to move any switches on a merc they will work in any possition on the 11plated onwards.
i.e the ones on the left of the steering wheel or the ones to the left or the right of your knees.

I could do that on a 53 plate actros I used to drive. Not a new thing.
yeah my 04 plate was the same, i moved the lift axle switch away from the temporary dump the air switch as i kept pressing the wrong one
I wonder if the OP means that if you move a switch to another position and another connecting block,it would have the same function? If so,then that’s a very clever system and a rather expensive switch! I’m not familiar with recent Mercs,(after 60 reg.) but older than that, each loom plug was dedicated to one particular function.Sorry if I’ve misunderstood.
In my 59 plate Mp3 you can move individual switches or the complete block of 4.
Breedy.

Think he does mean that. The Actros swtches send a signal to the ECU and the ECU lifts the axle or switches the rear working lamp on etc. Thats why you can move them anywhere you like.

Cars have been doing that for years, made wiring easier, but as mentioned, switches can be a bit more pricey and not easy to over-ride if they go faulty…
Sorry, WHEN they go faulty, we’re talking Merc here
thats what i meant, i swapped the sunroof switch with the lift axle switch and they still did the correct job

yes sir+ the new mercs you can take any switch and move it where you want to. exept the fridge or the air con switch.
Am sure it’s called multi. Plexing, pretty much any switch can be moved any where I have moved a few on my 55plate
Multiplexing,CAN-bus -essentially the same thing, just different names for different applications. If you folks have swapped switches successfully, then that’s all there is to it.As the OP says, there must be certain ones that will not plug in to just anywhere. Not many of the switch connectors I’ve ever seen on any Merc have had a wire running to every connection.
