Some advice

I recently started a new full time job on 7.5 after passing my class 2 in sept, the job i’m doing is very similar to what 3663 and so on do. Im really not enjoying it and have up until the start of next week to leave without giving any notice. The other drivers that started with me have already left but these are people with experience and wont find it overly hard to get another job. Where as i don’t have that as well as being 20 will find it harder. My question is will it be seen as a nono for employers if i’ve left my first driving job after a month. Any advice appreciated. Ideally i would like to be doing recovery but i know that isnt going to happen without a fair bit of experience.

I thought the new employer/employee law was that either can say bye to the other within the first two years of employment?

It’s always best to give notice if you can, I doubt that leaving after a month would be a big drawback but why leave before you’ve found other work ?

Find another job then give a weeks notice is the easy and proper way to do things.

Age is just a number. I’m younger than you are and have just secured a job driving class 1, there are plenty of others that have done the same.

If you want it, you’ll get it. If you don’t get it, you’re not trying hard enough. Right now is quite possibly the best time of year to find work.

Also, what part of the job is the problem? Is it the nature of goods, the fact it’s multi drop, tight locations etc etc?

2 ways of looking at it. Christmas is coming more work about. Christmas is coming soon be no work about.

As your inexperienced I would sit tight and get some hours under your belt.
Not many people will move now till march so again sit tight but don’t stop looking just watch cause jobs will appear and then disappear just after the rush.that’s when the promises go out the window…

They were good enough to give you work with next to no experience. Stick with them. What’s wrong with a little give and take.

What is it you don’t like or are not happy with? Can you not stick it out to earn some experience? You may leave then find nothing for months especially as it all goes quiet after xmas. I’ve always found it easier to find work while your working too. Your not under pressure that way to urgently find a job

The driving isnt the issue pretty simple really. I think ill stick with it to get the experience then. Who knows it might get better…

A bit off topic, but what age can you start driving C+E?

18, but I’d suggest searching or making a separate topic first

Stick with it and try and find something else. It’s easier to get a job if you already have one, just start bashing doors and talking to people. Anything is possible if you set your mind to it, OK so it’s not going to happen overnight but if you persist and use your loaf then you should find a way to get where you want to be.

For example, TN member Constantine is local to me and spotted me on site one day and said hello, he was interested in my work (plant delivery / Hiab) but had no contacts or experience of this industry sector. Eventually he wore me down and I took him out a couple of times to see what the job was about, and gave him the heads up on some possible jobs. He’s recently started at a plant firm doing the work he wanted to do. Six months ago he was just any old driver, but he used his initiative and found a way in.
