There are probably several reasons why apart from bad manners as to why UK drivers are reluctant to help, they don’t have the knowledge or know how when it comes to mechanical problems and now so used to ringing the office for the slightest problem that it is of no concern to them how to fix minor faults and in all likelihood they don’t have any basic tools with them and so are unable to help anyway. So rather than show a lack of knowledge they just show a high level of ignorance maybe that is less embarrassing.
The money firms waste on needless callouts is huge, a callout at the weekend to jump start a fridge won’t leave you much out £500 how many sets of jump leads could you buy for that? Once you’ve done it a couple of times you can have a wheel changed and be on your way long before the tyre fitter has even turned up. I know that with “logistics firms” you aren’t allowed to do any self help but that is why they have the name logistics and not transport in their title.
I always carried a few spanners, screwdrivers, jump leads, bulbs spare suzies and general stuff for basic repairs.
About 5 years ago I stopped as I was no better thought of for it, and ■■■■■■ off with all the co b/s.
Tbh I’m lying that’s the official version of events if anything goes wrong and I’m ever asked.
I still carry stuff around, I’m old school type of driver, I always have,… but only in case of a Fri or Saturday problem, and I’m in a rush to get home, aka for my OWN benefit… ■■■■ em.

You do know if you got cought you would be sacked and made a example off
They would get all these people who believe anything to witness your hanging in a big public place and you would never work again
Walls have ears beware

I’ll watch me back then.
Tbf our lot aren’t one of those up their own arse firms, where you have to have a qualification certificate to change a ■■■■ bulb , like some of them, it’s just all the other crap that goes on that makes me a bit arsey towards them.

I think you are into major generalisations there, some or even many, and no doubt many who could, but due to company policy aren’t carry jump leads or spare bulbs etc. Of course also the UK has its fair share of ignorant drivers, but UK drivers as a whole group of people, seems unlikley.

How many £500 callouts could you get for when one of the aforementioned ignorant drivers tries to jump start a modern truck and fries the electrics.
Not about the link but you must be joking going by the headline Solidarity
It dont exist Never, its unheard of, its impossible there are too many people living on low wages that don’t have a dream to better themselves and happy to work for low wages especially in this job
Its the long hours that makes them think they earn good money when really it works out below minimum wage

Just my own experiences, was changing a trailer tyre in Lidl in Erith couldn’t move the last two nuts asked the Brown’s (now Turners) driver next to me to help he looked at his tacho “Nah mate breaks up” and promptly drove off. Polish driver then asks if I have a problem and spent the next 20 minutes helping. You will witness it in services everyday the EE will watch your back whilst the English driver will just blast the horn as someone hits him in between filming it, drivers still doing Europe still tend to help out but tbh I would only ask a UK driver as a last resort.
