On a recent post I realised I was old and out of touch with how people communicate.
With this in mind what are people using now ?
Is it worth the bother ?
Should I stick with what I know ( which is not a lot as old school) ?
I know I will get stick over this but this is a genuine question as Instagram Twitter etc doesn’t mean anything to me , I have a Facebook account but that was mainly to communicate with my kids(messenger) . So what do people use ? What gives the most information?

i dont read newspapers fr the last 40 years,nor watch live tv for a similar period of time,i never listen to the radio unless abroad and i cant understand what theyre slabbering about so its less irritating…old school works fine.

Any social media thingys at all. No Fakebook, no Tweetybollox, no Instanarcisussgram any of them. They are all the pages of the devil. Fakebook/Cambridge Analytica being a prime example of the utter contempt with which our data is treated.
People send me letters which drop through my letterbox, text me, email me or call my number.
No, I don’t think social media is worth the bother.

Fact check: You can be on twitter and still become a president in the USA. In fact, you can continue to tweet while you’re a president with no negative consequences
Not a SM user myself, just pointing out how ‘normal’ it has become. In fact if you read the news, 80% of their ‘stories’ and sources are some politician or celeb’s tweet/fb post. The tweet itself is news: what does it mean? What could it mean? Did they really mean this or did they actually mean that? etc…
Yup , have no interest in faceache twitter or any of the many systems set up to spy on you and/or gain information about you to sell on.
No loss to not be using any of these mediums.
I would consider a twitter account so i could follow President Trump, but probably end up ■■■■■■■ myself with laughter seeing him tweak the tails of all the socialists he winds up so admirably who without fail fall for it hook line and sinker, can’t think of any other reason.
Youtube has banned some channels and censored some of those who don’t have the correct view according to the new puritans, but people like Pat Condell can still be found on Bitchute instead.
I actually wish a lot more of our members would use Facebook also, that way they’d get their childish unfunny and seriously unimpressive trolling attempts out of their system and save us having to deal with their [zb] here. 
I’m not 40 yet but I turned away from all social media networks like Twitter and Facebook. I even got rid of WhatsApp.
People should try just binning it all off. Being off grid by modern standards is actually quite liberating. I dont have to avoid people I spoke to on Facebook when i see them in real life because i dont want a face to face conversation.
I’d not go back to any of it. My wife showed me someone she knows last night giving a reason to win donuts, and her reason was that her (perfectly well) son had cancer. WTF. This us the type of people that social media breeds.
So from what I have seen so far if I stick to reading books, watching tv , talking to people and the limited things I look at on Facebook (mostly classic cars , some historical things ) then I shouldn’t go far wrong.

They do have their uses and place in the modern society, it can make life easier to keep in touch with people and see what’s happening in their lives.
But on the flip side, Facebook is quite often (but not always) people posting crap no one cares about that’s happening in their life.
By reading this post I gather most of you guys are dinosaurs so you’d probably never adapt and so in my opinion: Stick with what you know!

I don’t bother with facebook, although my Mrs is on it, and my 2 daughters.
My 2 lads don’t bother with it either.
I’ve gone on it a couple of times on the wife’s page out of curiousity, and I can’t believe what some people put on it 
they incriminate themselves sometimes ffs … in some cases you would swear they were writing in a private diary, and I think…Have these clowns forgot that other people read this cack.
Then you get these couples who go on to tell each other they love each other, 
■■■■ cringeworthy,…If you love her tell her to her face ffs !!! 
Then you get the sympathy seekers, returned with the non genuine posts of sympathy…get a ■■■■ life.
I’ve known fights start over facebook, and even a divorce in my circle of friends, so no I keep off it, apart from looking (with disbelief) occasionally as I said,…via the Mrs.
I have tried them all and found them wanting in every aspect and now feel that certain platforms contribute to mental health issues.
I stick to boards like this, as the communication is simple, it has it`s problems, but essentially it is simple, I like simple.
People who text me are usually surprised when I call them, as I would rather speak with someone, I detest texting as it is made for those with small and dexterous digits, both of which I have not.
I am a dinosaur in this world and will not bend to it`s will, I shall go out demanding to be made into a dark fossil fuel of the future.
I’ve disabled the modem on my mobile (uninstalled the driver app), and in the four years I’ve had it - not ONCE received any spam calls.
No tracking neither.

I carry a mobile for emergencies. It is illegal to answer it when driving, so don’t want the distraction anyways.
Nobody can get hold of the number - unless I’ve called them on it first.
I don’t use voicemail, and barely ever text, although I can still receive texts fine. Once again, NO unsolicited texts from anyone but whom I’ve topped up with with their latest “special offers”…
PAYG - Rocks! 
I constantly get pumped for my phone number, especially mobile number when logging into webmail - but the moment one gives it out, then everyone in the world has got it, and you’ll never have true privacy ever again.

I don’t really use much in the way of social media apart from a handful of forums, Not interested in facebook just seems like a place for name calling & handbags at ten paces.
I have a twitter account to follow certain topics to get information I’m interested in but I’ve never tweeted (if that’s the correct term!)
I have a mobile phone on PAYG, I don’t even have a data plan for it I maybe switch it on once a month now to make a phone call because unbeknown to me if you don’t use it in a certain amount of time they close your account
My hearing is pants these days so email is my preferred way of communicating.
FB is a publisher and not a communications device like a telephone… They should be charged high taxes accordingly.
If one can get busted for posting even private self-taken photos onto what is supposed to be a private wall where only friends can see what you’ve posted…
Then Big Brother software is clearly monitoring ALL posts, including any private ones made within one’s account’s firewalls and so-called security lock-outs preventing any old user from browsing your private information thus posted there…

Got a final warning for posting this pic where I compared “Momentum” to Hitler’s Brownshirts.

…and finally got busted the moment I posted about the EU “Weaponizing Power Cuts” to punish the UK on August 3rd - days before we had a nationwide powercut that never got properly explained away by the authorities as to why it affected as much of the country as it did. (Simple: We import rather too much of our electricity from the EU - the EU wanted to send a message as to "just how dependent upon that electricity we are)… Alas, I understand a couple of patients died at Ipswich Infirmary, and thus removing the option of the EU actually fessing upto what they’d done after the fact. It was covered up, with the Outgoing Theresa May’s help.
At no stage did I express anything Pro-■■■■, but the software doesn’t presumably understand “context” - only “content that includes”. Thus, it presumably blotted me off FB automatically with no right to reply - because it mistook me for being a far-right poster. Even if that were true of course, then why on Earth are far LEFT posters given free reign to disrupt the public, make routine death threats, and generally communicate their bile in what I’ve always described as “Potty Mouthed Language”?
I even got told off for a post where I suggested where these “Acid Attackers” one hears about in the media - were getting hold of their “Acid” from…
It is not easy to get hold of Conc Sulphuric acid - but Phenol Crystals (looks like Road Grit) that one dissolves a few of in a bucket of water to mop hospital floors with? (That distinctive “Hospitally Smell” - is the smell of Phenol) - when a STRONG solution of the same crystals - burns and poisons via skin absorbtion… Filthy stuff, and imo NOT kept under sufficient lock & key in low-security hospital cleaner’s storerooms in our Left-leaning Hospital Culture of today’s Britain, alas…

I’d like to think that TNUK is still a communications forum rather than merely another tax-dodging “internet publisher” with an editorial, hidden agenda, and moderators acting as censors rather than referees… I’d like to consider myself among my own peer group here, and by all means other members are free to discuss the pros and cons as should always be the case on such contentious subject matters as “Facebook and Free Speech”.
