So who's met an ESL driver who isn't a cunt worth torching?

Having spent the last 3 days working as a shunter for a company whose main transport contractor is Stobart’s, i would like to offer my thoughts so far…

The majority seem to come with an inbuilt superiority complex…everything seems to be beneath them, or they need everything spoon fed to them. The trailer isn’t in the exact spot they were expecting, they come back to the office/yard and demand to know where it is, rather than simply continue through the trailer park where 9 times out of ten, it is a few spots further down…and it isn’t a big park either maybe 15 trailers in there at a time!

One thing i will say is that i have yet to find a dog rough trailer belonging to Stobarts, plenty of them belonging to another haulier we use, but Stobarts are always clean, and well maintained…the curtains literally glide along!

so now your claiming were incapable of finding a tri that not where it should be :unamused: [you just got to laugh at this [zb]]
to today i got to my collection point,i went and booked in with the bird on the desk,she then told me to put my empty tri on bay 15,and my loaded tri fst ----- was in the yard,so off i toddles and drops my tri on bay 18[couldnt put it on 15 as a blindside reverse :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :frowning: ,cant do them,nightmare],so off i goes to find my tri,after asking various depot staff if theyd seen it,no one knew :unamused: :imp: :imp: ,i went back and got bird in office to draw me a map of where it was,finally found it,but trailer brake wasnt on :unamused: :unamused: ,so i went and got the shunter and he put it on for me,just incase it rolled,knocked building down,killed various workers [no way am i taking blame],he put it on but it was 6 ft from wall and i was scared of taking a mirror of ftrying to get under it,so shunter pulled it out and put it in middle of yard for me just to be on the safe side,job sorted,oh hang on it was fst —8 i wanted and ive got fst —3,oh well mistakes can happen to the BEST cant they.
hang on you may have a point :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: must try harder :exclamation: :exclamation:

Fair play, you’ve got the bottle to tell the story… :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:

wow 1100-1200 after tax per fortnight = £45000ish why is it all the jobs they adviertise are around the 25k mark or is that including nights out meal allowance etc etc? exactly why esl comes across so wrong on that programme!
dont have a problem with the trucks or the staff to be honest went for an interview as a planner was offered 17k 4 on 4 off 12 hr shifts refused to work for such a low income however the bloke who interviewed me seemed ok bit of a company man but ok.
oh and i was told that any overtime is paid at flat rate not sure if this is company wide or not but sure someone will inform us all :open_mouth:

the rate is based on a flat 50 hr week but if you tramp you can max your hrs and take home 5/550 a week easy

so say 550 per week take home minus 4-5 nights out at £20 min per night reduces it to 450 take off meal allowance of £3 per day reduces it to £435 which is a total salary of 22500 or around 25-27k before tax nightout money should not be classed as a part of your income it is an expense! this is why drivers rates are so low too many numptys who will say oh i earn 600 per week am out 5 nights and get £25 per night out so so wrong :cry:

Come on then Mr university, how much are you earning as an agency driver?
Yours sincerely, a numpty.

wow touchy touchy i get 120 per shift minimum for 10 hours then 12 per hour after if it is worked (often it isnt) just because i went to university to learn new skills has got nothing to do with it my point is drivers i have met have often stated they get x amount per week and state it like they are on great wages when the fact of the matter is they are not. i have no issue with drivers working for whatever they are happy to work for but dont try to sell it as a great paid job when it isnt. that was the numpty point not that all drivers are numptys.

Plural of numpty= NUMPTIES. University my arse! :roll (Do you want to buy a comma?)

haha didnt realise my grammar was under scrutiny. Must try harder and use spell checker! :stuck_out_tongue:

Good man! :sunglasses:

Dammit just realised i didnt use a capital to start. :open_mouth:

Oh and please use 2 spaces after a full stop!!!

Can I ask if the £120+ per day is what you get in your hand at the end of each shift? Sorry for being a numpty, but I’m just not too bright.

No feel free the £120 is before deductions so if i did work a 5 day week (which i dont by choice) it would be £600 top line, the difference is i dont state i earn fantastic money or try to make out it is. Oh and if i done 4 nights out a week it would be £680 :laughing:

My point is the ESL driver who put on about the 1100 per fortnight is obviously including 4x nights out and isnt doing a standard week, this isnt me guessing just look on the ESL website at jobs and what they pay as a basic yes i guess they may well have shift allowance etc to top up basic, but its not great money for the hours and being away from home all week.

Ok I’m officially a numpty then. I take home approx £1150 a fortnight, yes including bonuses, night out money etc. I do long hours but would rather be working than sat like a lemon (or numpty) in my cab for hours every day. Where I live jobs are scarce, this pays more than most around here. I could do agency work for the same money as you, but most work is day work in Carlisle…50 miles away. So I’m happy with my numptiness thank you very much

but do you sit on here going on like you earn a magnificent wage? or try to make out the job is something it obviously isnt i.e well paid?

No it’s a job, and more money goes in my bank than an awful lot of other drivers in my small part of the world. Numpty or not.

think its time to call it a day if you want to decide to be classed as a numpty then so be it. at the end of the day i have a view you have a different one hey ho!

youre actually on less on o/t that normall time
7.75x 10 = 77.50
m/a = 13.00
f/b = 5.00
tot = 95.50
or = 9.55 p.h

7.75x 12= 93
8.67x 2.5=21.675
m/a=13.00
f/b =5.00
tot=132.675
or =8.845 p.h
what makes it less is the fact your 13.00 m/a-5.00 f/b is divided by 15 hrs when you go on o/t rather than the 10 hrs on flat days.

Not having a dig but you need to ask for a pay rise.I would take home more than that if i only did 40 hours a week.Dont let them take the ■■■■ out of you as it seems to me they are!
