So whats your hobby away from the cab?

old (now scrapped) toy behind and new toy on trailer just after i picked it up

and now (after a LOT of work)

How do you get on with the rotary quakers? Usually its 60k and the tips are worn out. Plugs/coil packs/ cats/ starters blah blah…dont ask me how i know

they get a bad rep becaue they dont get looked after.

i bought it with a knackered engine (90k miles) because the coil packs (a service item) and plugs where the originals and completely fu**ed, bought another with a rotten body and swapped the engine. going fine now good compression and i expect will last 100k miles more, if looked after.

its a car that you cant treat like any other, they use oil by design, for instance, youd expect to have to top it up every 2nd fillup, if you dont you end up with stationary bearing failure, game over.

when theyre working, theyre like no other car, a right giggle to drive :grimacing:

Think he is on about Dipper and his Rohypnol tendencies mate.

anytime ive had a good night where rohypnol has come into play then its the suspense intrigue and unknown that come into play with me.
i like to get myself sorted with likely female companion for the evening,a few drinks, back to my place,( cab, house,or even her place if she is a bit unsure of me).
once alone and getting cosy, then a few drinks each, then once it starts getting hot and heavy, i just neck some down myself,5 mins later havent a clue whats happening, and when i wake up in the morning,i can only imagine what she did to me whilst i was passed out and at her mercy.
the only clues being either the state of me skiddies,or the look on her face if shes still there in the morning.
the fantasy about the possibilities of what scenario hopefully took place keep me going with good flashbacks for weeks to come.

Bit of running/staggering. Ive started at the gym again. Used to go a lot but got lazy. So pulling finger out. I used to do a bit of mountain biking and that fell by the wayside so that’s on my list to get the old MTB out as there’s cracking trails near me. I want to start getting into film making, like stuff on Vimeo. Film shorts etc. Always had an interest. Getting set up with equipment is the barrier atm as car needs some bits.

Tinker with RC cars a bit when it’s raining or a quiet eve. Get a lot of hobby fun out of my real car, go on driving hols etc. It’s a bit of a hobby in its own right. It has to be otherwise you’d resent the running costs  . Want to head to the Lake District in the new year with it.

The internet takes too much of my time .

For me it’s messing around with cars mostly Volkswagens,
I’m a regular gym user but will be going more often this year,
And I’m also a follower of my local rugby league team home and away,
I must say this thread is a change from the negative “how do I have time for a hobby in the job” group of drivers who poison our industry

How do those guys …‘‘Poison our industry’’ exactly?

Just with the all round negativity robroy,
They let the job and planners etc rule there life and will moanto anyone who will listen about it,but won’t moan to the boss
They try and inflict a unhappy attitude on other staff too and Iv seen it happen over the years.

My fave hobby.

It looks like a Fiat 132 Luke,i had a similar looking one around 25yrs ago,i think they were the bigger and more comfortable brother to the Fiat Mirafiori and SuperMirafiori.

I used to have one just like this one in 1984.
Nice car in it’s day.

Did it share a body with the early 80’s BMW 5 series Rob? Looks very similar to the 5 series my old man had years back.

I think I’m becoming a bit of a fan of that Fiat

Wow lots of car lovers here; that is great to see. I would love to start on a project car type thing or buy an old classic and maintain it, however, insurance for young drivers is a killer - I positively HATE car insurance.

Otherwise, I’m a private pilot in training so will be flying on my own in a couple of months! Provided that the weather gets better.

Happy New Year!

Fiat 132 (1974–77) Edit

A major update to the front suspension was implemented for January 1974 in response to criticism of the handling and very low geared steering.[2] Press reports of the time commend the improved handling which was also supported by the fitting of wider tires, although poor fuel consumption at high speed continued to draw adverse comment, even where the (unusual for the time) five speed transmission option was specified.[4] In the same year an external redesign[4] gave the impression of a lowered waistline resulting from larger side windows. It included a reshaped C-pillar[5] which had a semblance of BMW’s “Hofmeister kink” and reminded some of the recently introduced BMW 5 Series.
