I always check, but the whole fleet of trucks of the company i drive for dont have dog clips fitted. And the trailers are worth easily a few hundred thousand nevermind the millions pounds worth of goodies inside.
If the kingpin breaks/snaps or the 5th wheel disintegrates then a dog clip aint going to help much anyway.
