Winseer,
Warburtons is a cut above the rest, i’d be inclined to investigate that one.On the artic trunks, yes. On the rigids, avoid like an African with Ebola.
Whats the problem with bread deliveries on a rigid?

There is a builders merchant near me, always advertising. I went in for a chat. They do the same sort of thing. They pay minimum wage. BUT pay you 12 hours a day minimum and time and a half after 8 hours. Apparently it’s all guaranteed and its in your contract. I still politely made my excuses and left
presently doing a stint for a builders merchant (via agency) and its probably the easiest job ive ever had forky loads it . i strap it (not allowed on the deck) deliver to site (usually storey homes or similar) remove straps ,telehandler unloads it back to yard , repeat easy peasey . no one phoning up "where are you " if telehandlers busy get flask n paper out . money isn’t great , well its pretty poor actually if theres any truth in the rates that get bandied about . but its hassle free work .they can leave me in this job for as long as they like .

Each to their own pal.
I’ve no problem with a ‘heavier’ job aslong as my pay reflects this. Give it a few years and my mortgage reducing then easier lower paid work I could accept, unfortunately at this moment in time I Cant
Whilst we are on this type of subject. Local firm in dewsbury (maru international- no problem naming and shaming as I think it’s a joke) are wanting class 1 with ADR and the pay? £8 ph.

I can see where your coming from , however I’m fortunate in not having a mortgage anymore , and believe me life is so much easier without it . keep going one day you will ! reap the reward that is debt free
usually tilt and slide is 7.5 tonne as we all know and although they are now categorised as hgv these vehicles are still classed as non hgv when it comes to driving them so they will pay low wages [personally I think its wrong ]but that for what they want from you is extracting the urine

Maybe not the delivering, but order picking is the most boring thing I’ve ever done and at 4am to add further insult.
Just shows what an hour of your life is worth to them.

Why am I doing two jobs for the wage of just one. I did it for a week on agency before telling them to go stuff it.

Yep as I said, this picking your own loads crap. You pick it at silly o’clock and get bored out of your skull counting 60x wholemeal loaves, 50x whites and 10x toastie loaves, and that’s just for the first drop. Don’t forget you’ll then be expected to count it all again before you can leave, repeat process for most of the drops on the wagon. Boring as hell.
I’m doing class one tramping and my hourly rate is less than my son gets at the local supermarket. My,agent drives a porsche and my untrained supervisor does 8,30 16,30 money Friday.he insists I can earn a decent wage if I break the law and rig my poaI am greeted by dereliction of duty at every site and my names become are u agency.transport is being, screwed to create subsidiary leach jobs.higher paid.drivers are not professional they are a means to defraud customers.the cleaner at this site gets paid more than I do.this is why the unions have completely failed drivers as their intention is everybody except shop stewards get 8 pounds an hour and health and safety is forsaken for executive pay so they can carry on making massive profits from student accommodation.drivers are unrepresented and unions have failed us consistently for over a decade.if u won’t break regs u can’t work. The hours are ridiculous with the specific intention of causing accidents. 40 hours 12 pound an hour is still an insult but you cannot leach off drivers unless they accept 10. Thankyou unite.be a teacher.imo

I could consider a slice of that - I’d have to be using my loaf though. I’ve heard that rigid multidrop work is hardly the best thing since sliced bread.
I wouldn’t want to be sandwiched between early starts and a stressful environment either.
Perhaps if someone buttered me up a bit, I’d be more inclined to spread over on the shifts?
At the end of the day though, at my age I might be a bit too crusty for a roll - and would have to chase the best dough instead.

Alright Flour, enough of the Yokes, lets sort the Wheat from the Chaff.
Use your Loaf, I understand that she had a nice Bun & loverly Baps for sale, its a Pitta because if you’d had a Grain of sense you would have Roll’ed with it & not taken the Biscuit.
Here’s your delivery vehicle when your on £6.70 an hour-
Hovis, It’s as good for you today as it’s always been-http://youtu.be/6Mq59ykPnAE

Dipper Dave will happily advise and oblige.
I’ll respectfully rule out myself working at Warburtons though. It takes 90 minutes each way for me to commute to Paddock Wood, which is my nearest depot.
Oddly enough, about a decade ago - Hovis, Dagenham - was the best paid job I ever had on agency @ £16ph back then. I only had to shuttle to milton keynes, self-tip, and return with the empties job & knock.
The only thing wrong with it from my angle - was having to cross the river for a flat 8 shift. For that kind of hourly rate - I’d be happiest doing 3x15 hours or 4x12 hours per week across weekends for even more rather than the monday-friday lates I was doing.
Hovis is as good today as it’s always been. But I can’t stomach that cobbled hill on Granvilles’ push bike.

Gold hill in Shaftesbury mate!
Once a year a local bike shop organises a hill climb up it if you’re game!
It’s my mate’s shop that does it, and every time I tell him to sod off!
